Hi in the VS X4 do more panel/tools i have a entry for Painter 4 Essentials!
i downloaded it it installed on the first opening i had a error box saying somthing like "this program has been illegaly modified"??
I tried to repair it through the windows control panel, for some reason when windows finished doing it thing it told me that the program was successfully removed!
now if i go back into Do More the Painter 4 Essentials download button is there but it will not download!
Any one got a answer!

Update Ive just found out that this is registered in my products with corel so i downloaded the trial version! & guess what

yep the same thing!!

I have just downloaded and installed the trial version of Painter without problems.

Some info regarding manually uninstalling the program on the Corel Site may help, some details refer to editing the registry?


When you install try disabling your anti virus program, something I don’t like doing, but maybe it saw the installation files as a threat? Just a thought. Having said that I have never had to do that.

I did all this & it would be great if the reg contaned these lines!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\COREL\Painter Essentials\4.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\COREL\Setup\Painter Essentials\4.0
it did have this entry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\CorelReg\PE04
I deleted that & tried the install again but no joy! (antivirus off)

corel gave me links to two patches but they will not install either
i get this error box

Hi

When we install Corel products a small program called Protexis licensing is also installed.
Task Manager shows it as PSI Services.exe maybe PSI Services_2.exe

As far as I know it is this program that monitors the Corel installation and may be responsible for the original “damaged or illegally installed” message.

Do a search for Protexis on the forum, then search google for further information.

Removing Protexis will/may disable your Corel software and you will then have to re-install your programs. Which in turn will install Protexis again, hopefully working correctly.

I don’t know exactly what Protexis does or how it disables programs, but it does, somehow?

How many Corel programs do you have installed?

Well i dont know what i have done but i tried it again this morning & it installed!!
Now the reg number in my corel Registered Products is a invalid serial number!
Yet another thing to sort out HAHAHA dont you just love it!!!!

I thought you were using the trial version and had not purchased as yet?
