Hi,
I'm working on a lengthy video highlights project with many clips less than 5 seconds and want to know the easiest way to bulk move at least 10+ clips at a time on the timeline to either an earlier or later point than they're currently at. In essence, I'm hoping that I can "bulk" cut and paste all these clips together instead of doing it one clip at a time by either dragging each individual clip or cuting and pasting. Thank you!
Moving several clips at a time along the timeline...

Select the first clip in the timeline that you want to move - go to the last clip and hold down 'shift' while selecting (standard windows multi-select procedure) then just click anywhere on the selected clips and slide your mouse left or right to move the clips to where you want them. I sometimes find it easier to change to storyboard view when doing things like that - it seems to be a bit tidier for me.

Of Course! I'm embarassed... I should have known that as a standard windows multi-select function. THANK YOU

Re: Moving several clips at a time along the timeline...
I have been known to be a little dense where the obvious isn't so obvious to me.
Placing clips on the first track (main video track), am I able to slide the clips to the left or right? I would like to be able to add clips (I know you can insert) to the front and then slide the other clips back. This way I can work on the "added" clips placed at the beginning of the video, and when finished, move the clips I moved further right (to create the space) back against the finished clips that are now the beginning of the video. Or does this all have to happen on track 1.
I hope I made myself clear....

The top video track cannot have spaces in it - you do not need a space at the beginning though to put a new clip in, just push it in at the beginning and all the other clips will move right all together - on their own, and all the other clips will stay butted up against the new one - if you cut a bit off the first one the rest will move left to fill the gaps. you can just insert clips anywhere along the top track and all the other clips will automatically move right to let it in and then left to fill any gaps created by editing - you do not have to manually slide clips left and right.
You do not have to use the top track - some people use only the overlay tracks where you can have spaces - BUT - clips in the overlay track do not slide on their own you will need to move each one individually starting at one end and moving each clip in sequence moving along the track.
Not sure if I've answered your problem - but basically you don't need space to put a clip in anywhere and edit it.

I understand that you can insert clips at the beginning of the timeline on the top track. I come from working with other NLE's where overlay tracks are on top (overlay) and you can move files all over the place.BrianCee wrote:The top video track cannot have spaces in it - you do not need a space at the beginning though to put a new clip in, just push it in at the beginning and all the other clips will move right all together - on their own, and all the other clips will stay butted up against the new one - if you cut a bit off the first one the rest will move left to fill the gaps. you can just insert clips anywhere along the top track and all the other clips will automatically move right to let it in and then left to fill any gaps created by editing - you do not have to manually slide clips left and right.

Thanks for clarifying this. I can see me using basically the overlay tracks, which is no big issue. Grouping clips and moving them to where I want makes things easier for me in editing.
Thanks again.
