Locking in timeline when inserting something in front

Post by klesser »

I have been using VS8 for about 2 weeks now and have figured most everything out...However, I have one annoyance..

If I am working on a video and then decide to put in a title sequence, when I insert an amount of video, it pushes the rest of it down an amount of time, but all my text, audio, etc. stays where it was.

Is there a function in VS8 that locks in all of the different timelines so if I want to add something near the front of my movie, I don't have to spend time going back to re-calibrating my titles, music, and such?

Thanks :P

Unfortunately, no.

But UVS 9 adds ripple editing, which does what you want to do.

Klesser, in your case, you would, prior to adding the title sequence, save and render your file. then bring it back to the time line and add your title sequence. Like Thoff said, VS9 has the ripple effect feature that would save you the trouble of doing all that

Also if you look here :-

you will find a way in UVS8 to move all the clips and audio at the same time - rather than doing each one individually

i've used the new feature in UVS9 that help to ripple the titles to the video clip.
it works,
but when i enter an image (not video clip) the ripple does not work.
and i need to fix the titles again to fit the clip i want.
did someone encounter this bug, and found any solution?

I have just tried the ripple effect, it works for me.

For the ripple effect to take place the image / color clip / video clip has to be placed to the left of any existing titles or audio in the other timelines.

Make sure you are not inserting an image immediately above or to the a title.
