NEW VIDEO PRO X4 USER BATTING ZERO

Post by TheaBBadd »

I like the interface but cannot get this software to do anything. I completed a short project on the timeline then SHARE then CREATE VIDEO FILE to create an mpeg-2. X4 closed and put me on my desktop. tried again & got an unspecified error, after closing that notice, X4 closed again. re-opened x4 & recovered the saved project, then tried to create a dvd. got an unspecified error notice at the "prepare output content" point & was dumped to my desktop after closing that notification. worse, I couldn't open the dvd drive to remove the new "coaster" until rebooting the PC. I have 2 other video editors running smoothly, but want to switch to X4, but this total lack of compatibility has me wondering whether I should return it for a refund.

I am sorry that things aren't going well. But we need to know a little more about your project. Where did the original video come from? Could you please right click on one of the clips (if they are all the same) in the VS timeline and copy ALL its Properties here. That was we will at least know what we are dealing with. Could you also tell us what editing you did to the project.

Are you using the Trial version? If so, then you might want instead to download and try out the trial version of the newest version -- X5.

If you have already bought X4, then have you applied the patches?

Hi Ken,
I'm using x4 ultimate + service pack 2. it's new and not yet registered - may not have to. I've tried "sharing" 1. Corel's sample videos, V07 & V10, as a project.
2. A couple of m2ts clips as a project without any filtering.
Format:NTSC HDMV
Size:1155oKB
Duration:7.508 seconds
VIDEO
type:H264 Video, upper field first
Total Frames:225 Frames
Attributes:24 Bits, 1920x1080, 16:9
Frame Rate: 29.970 Frames/Sec
Data Rate:Variable bit rate(Max 16800 kps)
AUDIO:Dolby Digital Audio
Total Samples:360,360 samples
Attributes:48000Hz 5.1 channels
Layer:None
Bit Rate:384
Shot with a Panasonic HDC-TM700
I do want to emphasize that I've achieved the same negative results with both my own footage & the samples included in the Corel library on separate occasions-did not mix&match these two projects

I got tired of making coasters of DVD and CD, regardless of software. Whenever I burn a DVD, I always use rewriteables for my master. When the master is done, I use standard DVD/CD for my copies.

I agree we need more info to help you. I still get that unspecified error during burning as well. Do check to be sure you've applied the patches. After you've done that, see if you've checked to use motion menu/menu sound. That's where I've had the problem with the error....I have the best luck with using motion menu/menu sound even tho I didn't want it.

Hi Ken,
As an addendum, I downloaded x5 & having exactly the same problems with it. There's something about Corel Video that my PC doesn't like.

You describe your processor as an Intel "Duo-Core". I am wondering if you mean "dual core" or "core 2 duo"... There is a significant difference. If it is the latter, then you should be having no difficulty editing and rendering your AVCHD video. If it is a "dual core" on the other hand, you should be using SmartProxy. This will create copies of your videos in a standard definition format which is easy to edit and play. You do your editing, and when satisfied, the edits are then applied to your original video.

The CPU is Intel Core Duo E8400 @ 3 Ghz .
VS Automatic Smart Proxy is set to 720x480
It doesn't matter whether Smart Proxy is on or not, same negative results.
Just tried a batch convert & as usual, got kicked out to the desktop.

VS, on this computer, is probably not the way to go.

And there's no point posting DMP messages here anyway as no one knows how to read them. This is a user to user forum.

Hi

I have quite a few versions of video studio installed, using XP operating system and do not have problems. Guess that’s the kiss of death.

Is windows auto updates turned “on” and the system is up to date.
Direct X, manually installing the latest version has cured some issues in the past, must admit these may not be crashes.

Does the other editing options work, Auto Music for instance.

Are you logged on to the pc using Admin rights.
Did you do a normal install to the C/Drive?

1-windows update set to auto and is current
2-auto music works & I can generate wav files
3-I am a single user with admin rights.
4-did a normal install to my c drive.

Thanks, hope this helps.

Hi

Direct X, there is a download file that can be manually installed
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... px?id=8109

Download, run to extract files, save to a folder on the desktop.
Run DXSETUP.exe will install.

The manual approach has cured some problems, but as mentioned earlier I do not think these were crashes, more like operational issues.

Something on your pc must be conflicting with Video Studio.

Quick Time
Install version 7.5.5
If you use I-Tunes it may cause some problems, but you can always re-install the latest version.

Hi Trevor,
As per your instructions, I installed DivX to no avail.
As you stated, DivX isn't the problem.

The following is installed:
Cyberlink PowerDirector 10
Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 Player
Serif MoviePlus X5
Windows Media Player
UM Player
Nero Essentials-OEM

I don't have any Apple Quicktime installed...does VS require it?
