Post by jecklehead »

Does X5 handle .MOVs from canon DSLRs? I know X3 and 4 choked on them..

If its been fixed I will gladly download X5 tonight!

Thanks

Hi

I have a Canon 7D and have no problems with editing the video files from this camera using VS 12, X3 and 4

I have to admit that I only used the video as test samples, but never has VS crashed on me.

Kobra76, another member of the forum does create many video converted for the internet/You Tube.
As far as I know without problems.

Download the trial version of X5 and let us know how you get on.

So far so good!
It's smoother than I expected with the 47mbps file sizes off the 7D...

Just wish we got more than 4 audio tracks... :(
Someone editing a home movie isn't going to care but anyone producing feature or even a short with lots of sound effects will find this quite limiting.

I think that would quality as a enhancement request. Since in VS X5, it's the overlay track that has been upgraded. You can actually add up to 20 overlay tracks, two title tracks, one voice and 3 music tracks.

being .mov is an Apple format, I have had no problem via X4 or, now X5. However, I don't use Cannon products, always was Nikon fan. My best suggestion is trying to convert the file with many popular free utilities. I like "Any video converter", (thats the title).
