Hi!
I am new to this forum. I use Paintshop Pro Photo XI.
When opening my unedited picture in Irfanview I can read a long list of information under "EXIF", but as soon when I open the photo in Paintshop and save it a great part of the original EXIF information is "gone" and replaced by a very brief survey, including Paintshop information.
What can I do to preserve the original EXIF information?
Thanks in advance for your answer,
Hans

How are you viewing the EXIF information? Did you try IMAGE > IMAGE INFORMATION > EXIF INFORMATION tab?

Hi Abiel! Thanks for reaction. Yeah I did as you suggested. The issue is this: I open a picture from from digital camera and can read long list of information, about camera, diaphragm, date picture taken an much more. After editing the photo in PSP and saving it the EXIF info is reduced to a very limited list and I cannot find any setting how to prevent that PSP exchange the original EXIF information.

Re: Original EXIF information reduced after saving
I have just now found the same thing. THanks for that warning. It is a feature of PSP X4 that I do not want. The option of saving all Exif or not as in Irfanview is one that PSP should have in it
I have just looked back and it also occurs back as far as PSP8
So this means if you take and process an image simply in PSP and then save it you lose all that information on shutter speed and aperture and ISO. That is very disappointing.
What it does do is remove any items that do not have values and leaves out metering mode focus method , camera serial number firmware version and a lot more.

Must I really conclude that there is really nobody on this entire forum who knows the solution to this annoying EXIF information replacement?hartpaul wrote:I have just now found the same thing. Re: Original EXIF information reduced after saving
You must conclude there is no solution. Short of exporting the EXIF information before editing in PSP and then re-importing the EXIF information when you're done there is no getting past the fact that this is a shortfall of PSP.
And sadly I can't even tell you if this has finally been fixed in X5 or not.
I don't have a camera to properly test this EXIF information stuff with. I have a downloaded image that when saved from PSP X5 includes all of the same EXIF as the original. But if these values are not ones that are disappearing for you then I can't say if they finally fixed it in X5.

Re: Original EXIF information reduced after saving
Not fixed in PSP X5.
Did a comparison of the Exif Info from an original jpg image using Irfanview, and one that was copied to the desktop loaded into X5 and then saved back to the desktop and viewed in Irfanview again.

Central Column - full Exif from X5 (Irfanview)
Other columns extra from original viewed in Irfanview.
Red links equal values.
Green value name changed
Blue same name but value changed.
Highlight Yellow found only in X5
Highlight purple extra found in Irfanview and dropped from X5
