Crash When Rendering!
I have a project that I've worked on for a couple weeks. Now I go to render it as mp4 and VS crashes just before completion. I've tried a bunch of times, tried rebooting, tried other options, but no luck. This problem has showed up before but I always got it to finally work. But not this time. -- Joel

Re: Crash When Rendering!
What format is the original material in the project? (Right click on a clip in the timeline and copy ALL its properties here please.) What editing did you do: apply filters? Transitions? Background music -- if so, what format? And exactly which version of mp4 did you choose? With default properties or set by you?

Re: Crash When Rendering!
Thanks for your reply! I am rendering this video by choosing Upload to Web>Vimeo and accepting all defaults.
Perhaps it is crashing when I comes to the credits. This video is one of a series and because they are all similar, I made a separate video of the credits and I am inserting that video in each video of the series. I first rendering the credits as AVI and these are the properties:
AVI
Frame rate: 29.970
Bit rate: 81106.50 kps
video uncompressed
24 bits, 1280x720
audio: pcm compression
48000 khz, 16 bit stereo
Then I tried again with the credits as mp4 (with VS defaults) and got the same crash:
MP4
H.264 Main Profile video
24 bits, 1920x1080
30.0000 fps
15000 kps
MPEG AAC Audio
32000 Hz, 16 bit, stereo
128 kps
If I am creating a clip with VS and then inserting that clip in other videos, what format should I use? Could that be the reason for the crash?

Re: Crash When Rendering!
You may want to create an mpeg or m2ts video, rather than AVI (video uncompressed)

Re: Crash When Rendering!
mpeg gets the same crash.
Yes, the problem is with the credits clip at the end. I did a test without that clip and it renders just fine.
What is m2ts? I tried making a .m2t but VS will not add it to the video track.

Re: Crash When Rendering!
Ok, I got it! I rebuilt that credits clip, nothing different, and this time it worked. Rendered the final video as mp4 -- Upload to Web>Vimeo with defaults unchanged.

Re: Crash When Rendering!
I got it to work ok, but I am left with questions. There are many options that I know nothing about. Maybe someone can fill me in.
I want to create a clip with a few tracks in VS, and then insert that clip in other projects. What format should I use? I tend to use the Upload>Vimeo settings often, because Vimeo is a higher quality, but should I change those defaults?
I have many questions actually. Can someone recommend a good website or book for general info?
