How come I can't load certain MPEG files inot movie factory?

Post by dean5150 »

I can import most mpeg files into Movie Factory, but when I import others I get a blank screen for the preview...and when I import, the process takes a long time and the result is absoltely nothing. Do I need to change the movies settings? I dunno...HELP!
Thanks!

You need to be more descriptive stating exactly what your doing.
Are you importing from a dvd or vr disk
or
opening up a video on the harddisk and trying to insert it into the timeline.

sometimes files are named *.mpg, but they are really some other format (like divx or something). Where did your .mpg files come from, and are you sure they are really .mpg files?

I used a program called DVD Shrink to rip a few different DVD's. I'm taking bits and pieces from each DVD and compiling one DVD. Movie Factory will only let me import ISO files from certain DVD's. My thinking is they should all be the same, but obviously they are not. Anyway, the files that I do import into Movie factory, which are converted to MPEG, seem to have different attributes and will not burn to a disk.
1. Why can't I import certain ISO files?
2. How do I get my DVD burner to accept the MPEG's once they have been converted from ISO?
Thanks for your response!
