Can't burn DVD's with VideoStudiox4 (trial)
Hi, loved this trial, ease of handling AVCHD files and uploading to the web, but have been unable to burn a DVD. Will definitely buy if I can get this sorted. It takes hours to get to about 85% (checked I'm on DMA as rec'd by other posts) then freezes. Any ideas? Thanks.
Re: Can't burn DVD's with VideoStudiox4 (trial)
I guess some of these highly-compressed formats are still giving Video Studio trouble... AVCHD from a different camera would probably work...
If you are making a regular DVD to play on a DVD regular player, it needs to be MPEG-2. Of course, Video Studio should be doing that automatically. You may be able to convert it to DVD-compatible MPEG-2 with Video Studio as a separate process, before authoring the DVD. Or, if Video Studio chokes on that task, there are free 3rd party tools that can do it.
But before we get too far into that, are you making a regular standard-definition DVD?
If you purchase the program and apply the updates (which I think you can't apply to the trial), it might work better. But personally, I DO NOT recommend that you buy the program unless you'll be satisfied with it working exactly like the trial. (There is a 30-day money-back guarentee if you buy directly from Corel, but that's up to you...)

Re: Can't burn DVD's with VideoStudiox4 (trial)
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am trying to make a regular DVD. Up to now I had been going for mpeg4 but looked for mpeg2 but that hasn't worked either. I have also tried saving the file and burning using Roxio and Nero and have started to suspect maybe my burner is malfunctioning. Also tried to save for iPod and just about every ore option. I have even renamed and reimported files and started from scratch. Perhaps this is simply beyond me and I should go back to my trusty minidv but I'm hooked on hd quality. Would converting the files reduce the quality? I'll give it one moe go if you could suggest something else. Thanks again.

Hi, further to my last post which isn't published yet I have also tried to save back to the sd card in the camcorder but I get the message the device is not initialised. If this is the same as formatting, I did format the card in the camcorder. If not how do I do that? I thought if I could burn it back to the card I could make a DVD with my apacer.

YOu would use explorer to drag and drop the file to the sd card, using it as a normal ext drive.
It you can't save the file to any other file type, it suggests to me the original file isn't totally compatible with VS.
Rick click on a file in VS and give us the properties as listed.
What is the new camcorder?

Re: Can't burn DVD's with VideoStudiox4 (trial)
I thought that was a good suggestion but I think I've finally been stumped. I thought my PC had crashed but it turns out it can't handle 4GB memory cards and then I phoned Dell support who tell me my PC isn't compatible with HD
The camcorder by the way is a Panasonic HDC-SD700. I do like HD quality so I have to decide whether to buy the full version just to edit for uploading to the web or burn to dvd straight from the camcorder without editing or any titles/effects or go back to full control with a bit less quality on miniDV - or upgrade the PC.....
Thank you all very much for your input it was very helpful.

I'm afraid an upgrade to the pc wold be the best option to move forward with the hd editing.
