VS Pro X5 Ultimate Box Shipping From Portugal?

Deepest thanks to wstagner for tipping me off to check my email inbox for the "[Email Exclusive] Introducing the NEW Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 - Special Offer" which was sent on 3/8. Presumably that offer was sent to all registered users of VS Pro X4 who have not opted out of promotional emails from Corel.

As Corel is currently offering the boxed or the download version for the same discount price through 3/16, I have now ordered the boxed version with free ground shipping; (to be shipped later in March).

My correct billing/mailing address in Texas is shown on my online invoice, but why is there also a Madeira Portugal address appearing there with no clear explanation? Could Corel be shipping the boxed version from Portugal? Could that shipping point be cheaper for Corel than manufacturing/shipping the product in Asia?

I doubt very much that Corel has any shipping arrangements via Portugal. So if I were you, I would be contacting Corel sales to clarify/rectify the matter.

my invoice has exactly the same Portuguese address on it - I think the successful download also came from there.

That's weird indeed. I've reported this and hopefully I can provide you some details about the problem.

After some investigation, it seems that address is the location of "the Madeira Free Trade Zone"; a special zone created to promote business in Portugal through economic incentives.

My guess is that Corel has outsourced the fulfillment of their software orders to "LEROC Madeira" - a business located in the Madeira Free Trade Zone - not unlike the outsourcing of some support functions by major corporations to other regions of the world. As someone else pointed out: ""LEROC" is obviously an ***-backwards COREL . And Madeira is a really nice place to retire in Portugal while hiding out from tax authorities ..."

If you do a search on that address, you'll see that Corel has been using that firm for order fulfillment at least since the Autumn of 2011.

I too thought something was amiss when I tried to input my New York address and the field on the form for my State would not take it. So I clicked on another part of the form and my browser warned me that this is not the address to which you are trying to reach. I immediately cancelled my order and thought to wait a few more days, even if I miss the discount. I have been ordering Video Studio products since version 4 and I never had this happen. The good news for me is that I had not entered my credit card information. So hopefully it was just a "fluke" but I take no chances on the World Wide Web...sorry if this frightens anyone. I only post this for people on this board, whom I have grown to respect, to be careful when ordering and if anything strange happens, try to get some clarification from others on this board or Corel.

I just purchased "PDF Fusion" boxed version and found the Portugal address on my order confirmation form. It's not a "Ship To" or "Ship From" and whatever it is, it gave me a $4.00 discount. I used PayPal to pay for the software, and after reading everyone else's posts, I'm not too worried. It is something from Corel, so as a previous post said, it's probably the fulfillment address from where the actual, boxed product originates.

I started this thread on March 8th, so I felt compelled to follow up.

The boxed version of "VS Pro X5 Ultimate" that I ordered on March 8th with an anticipated ship date of March 21st just arrived at my front door via FedEx Ground. The FedEx delivery chap needed my signature.

The shipping label on the box indicates the shipment actually originated from 2000 Midway Lane, Smyrna, TN 37167 on March 20th. A quick Google search identifies that address as the location of "ModusLink".

According to their website, "ModusLink designs and executes supply chain management, aftermarket and e-Business solutions, across multiple channels, for the world's leading technology and consumer brands." I think that means that they ship software for Corel and others!
