Update the Undo and re-do function to work like Pinnacle. With their undo, the undo undoes literally every key stroke, just like you never typed it in. With Corel, the undo only undoes some of the video changes that were made versus backtracking every key stroke.

Video\Photo\Audio Panel.........the clips that are included with VS are labeled using Letters and Numbers......these clips would be better displayed with a short description.....or at least that description displayed when you place your mouse over them. As an example, S13 menas nothing.....but if it Displayed PHONE.....you would know what sound effect it is and locate it quickly when you wanted to use instead of trying to remember......S13 is the Phone effect.

Audio Filters that work with AVCHD Files

Post by dmulford »

Currently the audio filters are non functional for AVCHD files (examples those ending in MTS or M2TS). One of the great benefits to VideoStudio Pro is that it can handle these high definition files. Full support in the form of the audio filters would be great!

I would like a simple way to add self-generating music to a project. While I am sure that the current music method that involves selecting Scope, Filter, Music, Mood, Subfilter, Variation is extremely powerful and flexible, I find it overly complex and time consuming. I just want to select a popular music style (rock, classical, etc,) and a tempo (fast pace, slow paced, etc.) and be presented with options that fit the bill.

Menu Authoring

Post by edrizz »

Would like to have more control over the creation of sub-menus. In Pinnacle for example, you can set the chapters in a menu to take you to a point to in the video, or to take you to another menu. This provides great flexibilty.

Also, I would like the disc menu authoring functionaltity to be in the video editing software, not is a separate module that you go to "share" videos. Many times I have a video that I want to creat the exact same video, one in regular DVD and one in Blu-Ray. I do not want to have to re-create the menus all over again for each separate output type.

VS X5 as well as most previous versions of VS already have the feature to add chapters. The option to jump to other menu pages is also there.

I don't see the advantage of having the menu authoring as part of the editing program. They are two different functions and really have nothing to do with each other.

Thanks for your reply. I know that you can add chapters in X5 and in previous versions, but want I am requesting is the ability have chapter links on the main DVD menu that go to other menu pages (sub-menus) with their own chapters. The only way I could find to do this in X5 is to go into share/create disc and add separate video files, then add chapters to each video file. When I do this, the main menu has links to other menu page for each video file, and those menus contain chapters that are within that video file. This is limiting because I must create separate video files for each main menu item that I want to go to a sub-menu, and cannot go more that 1 sub-menu deep off of the main menu. It also seems odd to create an "empty" project in X5 and go into Share/Create Disc to add video files to make this work (not a good user experience in my opinion). If there is existing option to jump to other menu pages, I would very much like to know how that is done.

As for making menu authoring more integrated with the editing program, while these are separate function, I see advanges to creating a project that contains everything to be ultimately output to disc, including the DVD menus. Other editing software does this quite sucessfully with very smooth integration.

More subtitle options

Post by coolspud »

Bare with me, I'm still using VX3!
Subtitles are super useful and pretty much forgotten.

In VX3 you can create subtitles but the audience has no control over it.

VX3 allows me to create subtitles but I can't edit the Movie Factory SE template enough to have the option of enabling/disabling subtitles on the final authoring bit before burning.

Would be nice to have a pretty extensive subtitling tool-set which allows the project's author to add subtitles to a DVD/project, and allow the viewer the option of watching or hiding subtitles on the finished product (much like on commercial DVDs).

It would also be nice to be able to have subtitles work in "layers" so that if I wanted to I could choose between different languages (say English, Spanish, etc).

Please!

The greatest addition that Corel could make in X6 would be to make authoring specifically saveable and recoverable at any stage up to burn committment. It is PAIN to have to break off during an authoring process - eg to re check something or time just got away from you and a break is a must - and then have to start again from scratch. This is something that appears to crop up regularly: the last time I asked about it for a previous version, the moderator said as much and also that while there seems to be a save process there, no one knows (because Ulead/Corel would never say) where it is, or how to get it on demand. Since Corel still seems to have deaf ears on this point (because its still missing), keep asking!! FIRMLY!!

I'm half way through a feature film edit using X5 and this will likely be the last time I do this.

X6 could be easily play with the big boys with the following additions:

- I spent nearly 24 hours muting the main video and overlay tracks. That might sound crazy but try muting 1,332 and see how long it takes you. Being able to mute an entire track would be a HUGE quality of life boost
- This was an action film so 4 audio tracks didn't cut the mustard. I had to render 700 pieces of audio down to a stero track, pop it back in the project and then barely made due with the remaining 3.
- The compressor and noise gate filters aren't usable for anything commercial. They leave tons of artifacts behind and no one is going to apply an effect to this many pieces of audio. Needs a real time running effect you can place an a track.
- Maybe im missing something but it seems like WMV's are the only output formats with a decent amount of custom settings.

I understand X5 probably wasn't designed for something of this scope but heres wishing because I really hate adobe.

Add A Motion tracker and camera solver

Add a motion tracker, similar to Autodesk Matchmover, it would be the best feature to happen to Videostudio.
the motion tracker would be able to help in many ways such as motion tracking 4 points to a TV so you can insert different footage onto the TV.
and overall it would be a great feature

I use instant project templates to put slide shows into my movies. Videostudio X5 will only let me put them in at the beginning or end of the movie. It would be nice if you could insert the instant project templates between video clips in the project where the scrubber is.

Howard,
Yes agreed. But in the past I simply open a new project, pull in the template, add photos/video and then save it.
Then I simply pull that project into the previous one anywhere I want it.
Jack of all trades,
Master of none!

I thought I already asked for it but do not see it here. The ability to render a BD iso instead of BD folders. I struggle to get a BD player playing back from folders. I even bought Corel WinDVD Pro 11 to do the job and could not manage to play it correctly from folders. An ISO is a much cleaner way to backup your completed projects.

Thanks
