I would like to 2nd flwof's suggestion. I recently completed another family project but on my laptop as I was working on it while watching the kids at swimming training. Getting the fade in's and fade outs just where I wanted them at specific levels was very difficult with the audio track size. Especially on the small laptop display. A temp zoom mode for the audio tracks would be cool as they only need their enlargement while doing the actually audio fiddling and then back to their regular size while I'm messing with the video and title tracks.

AND

As I have mentioned ever since this excellent add-in showed up....The ability to draw a straight line in Painting Creator. And if possible basic shapes such as circles or rectangles. I like to show a line drawing across a map of our family journey and I can never get that bloody line to go straight. One of these days I'll save up and get a Wacom pad and pen to help.

Getting X5 for Fathers Day so looking forward to upgrading :D

Re your second wish -- in the Ultimate version of X5, you get 'RotoPen' which does what you want.

Thx Ken.
Great. At last. I saw some posts for "RotoPen" and was wondering what that was. I'm really looking forward to Fathers Day.

And some audio effects that run realtime on the tracks.
Instead of 4 dedicated audio tracks we should have 100 tracks where the user is free to use them as audio / video or title tracks as required. 8)

Would be great to be able to vary the alignment texts of titles (or credits) within the same title. I have a rolling credit that I have left justified, then at one section I need it center justified. To make it work I had to start another title which left a black screen gap between the two rolling credits. Using a crossfade transition between the two only blurred out the end of the first title.

Thanks,
Candy

Candy, I don't know which version of VideoStudio you have, but x4 lets you add a second title track. You can have your differently formatted title in the second title track. With versions x4 and x5, you can also run titles in an overlay track, of which you can have several.

I agree that it would be nice to have the feature you describe. I just want to mention that there is probably a work-around to do it with the current version of VideoStudio.

RE PRO X5 AUDIO MIXERS: Mine don't work either, when I slide it up and down to change the volume, nothing happens.

- remove length limit (10 hours)
- fix a bug when saving more than 7 hours wav file
- add support for lame acm codec for avi files, so we can use it like in VirtualDub (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/lame_acm_codec.htm)
- more interesting video filters
- add support for more newbluefx plugins, eg. Titler Pro

My wishes are very simple. I couldn't figure out how to do these things with X3 and it may just be that I also haven't stumbled on them in X5.
1. Some way to adjust the opacity of clips on the overlay tracks. Some of the things I composite need to be made more transparent. Being able to keyframe the opacity would be great.
2. Simple fade out and fade in for the clips in the main track and in the overlay tracks. I like to fade out my main track before the credits roll. I don't want a smooth transition into the credits. I just want the last clip on the main track to peeter out just to the point where the screen would go black. The same goes for the break between the title and the first clip. I want the title to play and then a fade in to the first clip.

I'm saving my VSP projects as WMV files so I can open them in Movie Maker and do the fade ins and fade outs that I need :(

You have for a number of versions now - certainly from X2 been able to adjust the transparency of the images in the overlay track - although we do not yet have the ability to key frame that transparency - but you could put a number of copies of the same image and set different transparencies for each one.

Have you tried using the 'fade to black' transition across the join in your videos - seems to me to do what you are describing. Alternatively put a two second black block between your videos or titles and videos and put a one second crossfade at each end of the black block - that does what you describe - if that is to quick extend the times a bit but remember the black block must be twice as long as a single crossfade transition.

You can keyframe the transparency (opacity) of a clip if you use the "Video Pan and Zoom" effect.

As I learned on this forum, you have the ability to save effects as presets: drag the clip back to the library with the effect applied, and then later in a different project if you want, you can copy the effect from the clip in the library and paste to different clips on the timeline. Doesn't work with transitions, though.

Thank you, BrianCee and Kingston. I've used both the transition and Pan and Zoom multiple times but am not comfortable enough with the program to think of alternate ways of using the tools it provides ...but I'm having fun learning. You're suggestions worked great.

A better possibility to convert 60p clips into 50p clips and vice versa.
The results I get when just using one framerate clip in the opposite framerate project is not too satisfying.
I could really live with an offline (non-realtime) converter for this, if quality improved.
