ah great! This synchronisation is really stunning.
Many thanks. I did't recognize this sound mixer icon!

Thanks! Synchronization is pretty easy actually, and I often do it without looking at waveforms. If you want to discuss this, let's start a new discussion and not place it in this "wishlist" thread.andi33x wrote:ah great! This synchronisation is really stunning.

Re: VideoStudio Pro X6 - Wishlist for future versions.
2 small things I'd like to have in the new one:
1. Grid Transition Effect
Transition effects in Power Director, much like: Grid Circle, Grid Diagonal, Grid Falling, Grid Random, Grid Sliding. Personally, I love the Grid Random & Grid Sliding the most.
2. Add a save button
Maybe a save button at nearby the undo/redo button?
Thanks for listening.
Add: One more thing, please let the user choose which language version they will install, instead of going with the system automatically.

How about make certain transition effects and attributes esp P-in-P display correctly when previewing using the scrubber (instead of displaying in black only).

One more function suggestion:
Mute a group of clips, instead mute them one by one.

Secondary color correction, dynamic time warping, and yes, the ability to mute a group of clips instead of the whole timeline. Oh, 64bit software.

OK I know this whishlist may seem like 'pie in the sky' but her it goes!
1.More control in the DVD Authoring software:
(All of these listed below are things I’d pay extra for, if need be.)
a)The ability to drag text to any location on the menu and use it as a Playlist link – Like in our antiquated, but none the less, beloved DVD Workshop 2. (As it stands now, because I refuse to use the very limited authoring software that comes with VS, I transfer my video files to a machine that’s running in XP mode, import them into DVD Workshop, create menus and export them to DVD ISOs to be burned. It would be nice to be able to author my DVDs from VideoStudio’s integrated authoring suite but it’s too limited for what I need to do.)
b)The ability to create Playlists.
c)The ability to have a menu sound track last longer than 30 seconds. The length in DVDWS 2 worked well for my purposes.
d) Integration of SmartSound software would be a real nice to have. Create custom menu soundtracks on the fly.
2.A robust standalone DVD Labeling system:
a)The ability to print on Printable DVDs (regular or hub printable) or sticky labels if prefered.
b)The ability to print DVD Case, (Slim, Regular, 26mm, 39mm spine) and Jewel Case labels.
c)The ability to create PhotoImpact style drop shadows for text and pictures. (I use Surething 4 and it’s ugly!)
d)The ability to import overlay images like png files, etc…
e)The ability to purchase DVD menu templates (from Corel) with matching DVD label content.
f)The ability to create your own custom DVD menu template with matching label content.
I know, pie in the sky... but I've been hoping for these things for years.

De-couple DVD authoring
Funny that at least a couple people have recommended improvements in DVD authoring in x6. Honestly, I never use the DVD authoring function in VS and I would just as soon that it be "de-coupled" from the editing software. I'd rather the editing software excelled at editing and rendering, then have separate software that excels at DVD authoring.
Just my thoughts.

FINER DETAIL IN SLOWDOWN / SPEEDUP
It is amazing that for such a great editing tool, that the finest resolution for speeding up and slowing down clips (video or audio) is 1%. For an hour of video (for example) 1% changes the whole length by 36 seconds. If my video is 5 seconds too long, what do I do? Cut it in half, and then speed half of it by 1%? Or a quarter of it by 1%? This is no way at all to do syncing.
0.1% resolution would be a great upgrade, 0.01% resolution would make me
NOTE: I did some searching on this issue, and it has been a suggestion for over 6 years, so no idea why such a seemingly simple yet useful change could not be incorporated.

Fliter templates
I almost never use the filters that come with VS, yet they occupy a very prominent spot in the user interface. Out of perhaps 400 videos that I've now edited with VS, I used filters twice -- and it was a painful, tedious trial-by-error experience to figure them out.
I recommend that Corel creates some filter templates that can be drag-and-dropped onto the overlay tracks to streamline using a filter. For example, if I need to blur a license plate, I drag the template to the overlay track and stretch/shrink it to cover the time I need the plate obscured. A right click lets me adjust the size, placement, strength and motion of the effect.
I consider myself fairly competent with VS and probably have 60 hours of final edited product under my belt. But I can honestly say that I don't have the first idea of how to use a filter without stopping what I'm doing to research it. A streamlined way to use filters just might get me to use them... right now, I avoid them like sticky-fingered children and they annoy me by taking up space that could be used for something I actually would use. Some common filter templates would make filters more friendly.
Note that I'm not saying all filters should have templates. Just start with one or two popular ones and see how it goes from there.

15 Features that are needed
1. Have a decent quality HD encoder or ability to use 3rd party plug in.
2. HD project template with 1920x1080 and 5.1 sound
3. Adjust setting for entire project base on properties of selected video clip.
4. Visible all channels waveforms for 5.1 audio.
5. Much better and more predictable audio control. (Current control is inconsistent)
6. Logarithmic audio fade in/out with user selectable duration.
7. Ability to adjust audio levels of a individual clips or entire project “as you play it” during editing stage.
(Right now if you change volume it will drift back to the 0 db level unless you keep holding it.)
8. Larger UV meters that would be calibrated to the actual produced audio level.
9. Video speed “slowdown”. (Smooth transition from normal speed to desired slower speed and then maintaining it for desired duration)
10. Ability to select default transitions duration in fractions of a second.
11. Ability to copy and paste transitions and their properties in the project.
12. Ability to select multiple transitions and adjust their properties as a group at the same time.
13. For MPG optimizer to select parameters based on user selectable clip (i.e. not limited to the first clip in the time line)
14. Once MPG optimizer determines the optimal settings, ability to further edit /customize it.
(right now you can only accept or reject entire set of parameters)
15. 64-bit version of a program.

Re: VideoStudio Pro X6 - Wishlist for future versions.
Hi,
One thing I would like to see is the ability to have the AVCHD video timecode available to display on the timeline after the first time the clip is captured. Currently, the timecode can be entered, along with the video clip, only when the clip is captured/imported into VS. If you want to reuse the same clip in another production, or need to delete and re-add it to the timeline, the timecode is gone. It does not get saved anywhere that you can get it from. It would seem to me that if the timecode can be imported along with the video and audio, it should be possible to have the timecode saved for later use.
I would also like to echo the request for a good disk lable and DVD/Blu-Ray case printing utility. There was one in VS X3, but it was removed in X4. Please bring it back, but with more capability.
That will do for now, but I probably will come up with more suggestions later.

Re: VideoStudio Pro X6 - Wishlist for future versions.
Add perspective control especially within Picture in Picture.
It would be great to be able to change perspective of a picture in picture (using the Picture in Picture video filter).
This could be achieved in Mediastudio Pro (using moving path) and allows say a sign on a wall (or a page on a book being read etc) when originally shot from say an angle of 45 degrees to swing around and then fill the screen using a separate clip shot at right angle of the sign as the picture in picture (hope I have made myself understandable).

Re: Multi-cam support
The one single factor that prevents me from using VideoStudio (even though I own VideoStudio Pro x4) is the lack of more than one video track . I am not talking about official "multi-cam support" like other editors, just additional video tracks. I can do the rest. I agree here with RoadRanger, four video tracks at most.RoadRanger wrote:Support for two cameras would be fine for what I want to do but I suspect four would be about the maximum that anybody using this program would want.
I believe that, making available many more tracks, VideoStudio will soar in popularity. Corel, you are SO close. Take the step.
