I used the old video studio several years ago and I have just recently upgraded to this version. I have also purchased a new sony Video Camera the HDR-CX560V. Unfortunately, the software doesn't recognize when the camera is connected via USB cable. I can't find any help in the help section. Can someone point me in the right direction here?

Re: VS X4 Doesn't Recognize My Sony Video Camera
Which command are you using to import the AVCHD from your camera?
Ultimately, though, Windows should be seeing the camera flash drive as another drive. You could import the media to a Windows directory and then use Insert Video in VS to import from that directory.

Inside VideoStudio X4 I select the '1 Capture' tab. From here I select the 'Caputre Video'. At this point I get the messsage, 'Either no video capture driver is installed in this system or no device is connected' message.
I just installed the Sony software which presumably has the driver which would allow Videostudio to detect this camera. This worked perfectly with the old version of the software and my old camera as I was able to control the camera inside of Videostudio.
I do see the camera just like an external hard drive, so I can always manually move the files to my computer, but I was hoping to do it through videostudio.
Thanks in advance if you have any more thoughts.

Re: VS X4 Doesn't Recognize My Sony Video Camera
The problem is that you are choosing the wrong command after you select 'Capture' - after you select 'Capture' please use the "Import Digital Media" option and you will then see the camera as a drive connected to your hard drive. Select the correct folder inside your camera and click OK to transfer your video files to the computer.
Incidentally it makes no difference at all to VideoStudio how you move the videos from your camera to the hard drive - whether you move them external from VS using Windows - whether you use the capture software supplied with the camera (often the best way) or whether you capture or import with VideoStudio - as long as they are on your hard drive and VS can access them it is just the same - there is no 'magic' or benefit in using only VS.
edit - whoops thank you for the correction Trevor - senior moment

You can also right click the timelines (edit tab) then select Import Digital Media
I use the camera as a removable drive (like an external hard drive) to import the files to the PC.
Then right click timeline or library to Insert Video/Media Files
