Making a swf fade at the end of the sequence

Post by bob733 »

I have CL3dps and love it. I created a scene in which i have:

1 Scene/video background (moving thru space)
2 A text line that starts at the beginning of the scene )"Why didn't anyone think of this before?")
3 An explosion of that text line
4 Another text line that shows for only a few slides ("We Just Did!"
5 Then a third text line that gets bigger and bigger with a particle effect of lightning ("PacAndGo, LLC")

I export all to a jpeg swf file which will overlay the original web page for the duration of the scene.

And it works (see www.pacandgo.com) for the stupid web page (and dont barf, and I have tons of work to do on it , but you will get the idea of what I am trying to do)..... I want the scene to become fully transparent which will show the underlying web page during the last few frames of the scene (instead of disapearing in one second).

Can this be done in Cool3d so that when exported to a swf, the shift to transparent will take place?

And thanks in advance for the help

Correct me if I am wrong, but....

it appears as if you have no control over the background image or video duration in Cool3d PS. I have tried every which way to make the background change by key frames but whatever I change it to, it changes it for the entire timeline.

If I am correct, it is a bummer, and I will have to just figure out a work around. Any suggestions from the gurus?

Besides the limitations of transitioning backgrounds in C3DPS, I don't think the video streamer window can fade to transparent. You might be able to get a capture of your background image of your webpage, then using a video editor combine the C3DPS file and the pic of you web background and do a nice transition. Then when the video window closes, there is your true webpage and hopefully the transition is discreet.

This may involve you using a graphic page (since text will be formatted differently by the viewer's screen resolution). Since the text on your site is has no links, this should be fairly easy and should not require any 'mapping' for button clicks. I would also recommend frames, so that you can separate your buttons from the video/info text area.

The problem is that 3DS max can't edit 2D images or movies. A trick you could do is to put the background on a large square in the background, making a physical backdrop, although you might encounter some problems with your text clipping it. Then you could have it fade to nothing. But I think Pauley is right. YOur best bet is to save it as a file, then bring it into a video editor to have it fade to a static image of the website, and then switch 'em out.
