VS X3 Pro ug to VS X4
Hi all,
Long time away, and way behind.
Not a prolific user so just occasional use, at 72 yrs young struggling a bit.
Last purchased VS X3 as an upgrade and had not had any use to burn DVD's. I was expecting a bit more from Factory which was an inclusion.
Simply a horrible experience. and I can't seem to access the Factory 7 SE.
I in frustration bought Real player 15 Plus (however can still retrieve my purchase if needed)
I did not realize I had severe HDD and also internet problems on the laptop.
At present I have my VS X3 on my laptop which appears to be dying (HDD) and as I understand it I would have to load u/grade to it, but I have just got my PC up and running again and want VS X4 on it instead, however even if I don't upgrade how do I get VS X3 from my laptop to my PC?
Now I like intuitive and simple so my 1st Q is?
Do I upgrade to VS X4 or use another program (Real player) to burn DVD)? (is the exercise worth it as funds are very limited)
I liked the idea of just VS to handle mpeg4, size to DVD capacity and subsequently burn to DVD, with reasonable quality TV viewing.
Am I expecting too much? Sorry to be so long winded, I would appreciate some feed back with the above.
Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian
Welcome to the forums
When you purchased Video Studio you either used the download option or the box set.
Do you have these files or disc?
Either way the program came with a serial number or activation code, use during the installation. Can you confirm you also have these?
If so then you should be able to install the program (X3) on the new PC.
Then installing the service packs should allow the download of DVD Movie Factory 7SE.
I cannot understand the reference to Real Player for burning a DVD????
I would use Corel Video Studio for burning your DVD’s.
If you are having problems running or using DVD Movie Factory then ask a question.
First get the programs running on your new PC.
Once you have the program working tell us about your original video files, what type they are so we can advise on the DVD creation process.

Re: VS X3 Pro ug to VS X4
Thanks Trevor
I can't find the original download files.( have since found VS Pro X2 ((VS 12)
Tried to install with the old Activation code said not a valid code!
This was the last version I had been using prior to upgrade.
VS Pro X3
All I have is the program which lists:-
VS Pro 13.62.69
Serial number removed by admin
This came with DVD Factory Pro 2010 embedded
I did this as a paid for upgrade via Internet to the previous version of VS.Pro X2 ((12)
RE Real Player
It can download from Internet and then burn to DVD I was so frustrated by my unsuccessful efforts to burn with Factory 2010. I bought Real Player I really did not think at that stage
If I go with VS X4 I will get it on disk this time
One more Question I just looked at the Australian COREL site and VS pro X5 is now listed
If I get the upgrade on disk does it have full files for the program (just in case I have similar problems again?
or will I have to go to all of the trouble of downloading VS X3 and then use the new VS X5 disk?
Thanks

Re: VS X3 Pro ug to VS X4
Hi Ian
I have removed the serial number from your post……..
If you have VS 12 installation files and the program is the full version not an upgrade then it should install. The serial number should be available via your Corel account.
http://www.corel.com
sign – in link top right, you will need your e-mail address and password.
You should be able to view your registered products.
I am hoping you know the sign in details?
VS (X3) came bundled with DVD Factory Pro 2010, this program is rubbish.
Corel provided DVD Movie Factory 7SE as its replacement.
This program is very similar to the authoring section of VS12 and should work ok.

Thanks Trevor
I have edited my post to include extra stuff, I did this to save me from sitting here for too long (health issues)
I installed the VS X2 on the new PC but none of the serials now work I assume that is because I upgraded to my laptop (VS X3)
I think I upgraded VS X2 from VS 10
thanks

Re: VS X3 Pro ug to VS X4
Hi Ian
If the full version was VS 10 and you upgraded to VS12, then you need VS10 serial numbers to install VS12 update.
Similarly you need VS12 serial numbers to install X3.
Yes you are correct that Video Studio X5 has now been launched and is available for download.
Although you qualify for the upgrade you will need to find the serial numbers for X3. making sure they work before spending your money.
If you registered your products with Corel/Ulead then you should be able to retrieve your serial numbers.
Which should allow you to install Video Studio

Re: VS X3 Pro ug to VS X4
Thanks Trevor
VS X2 downloaded to my PC but showed only a trial version and this would not accept the number.
so I must have kept the wrong file.
As you saw I have the Sn for VS X3 but no install files (you removed the Sn from my post.)
my main concern now is if I get VS X5 as a boxed u/grade
do the disks contain only an upgrade or the full installable VS X5
I am only trying to prevent this from happening again
I have tried to use the serial number I had for VS X2 on my PC but it says Sn incorrect.

Re: VS X3 Pro ug to VS X4
There is no difference at all between the upgrade and full programmes - they are identical in every way - the difference is that you get the upgrade cheaper BUT you must at least have the serial number from a previous version to install the upgrade - just a way of Corel saying thank you for being a previous customer.

@berry-p
You don't need to upgrade, just like what the others have explained, you just need to install the DVD MovieFactory 7 SE that was released when a lot of VS X3 users complained about the DVD Factory Pro 2010, you just need to install the VS X3 SP1 in order to get the free DVD Movie Factory 7 SE. Just go to http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=1000016 to download the update.
Also you may want to try the just release VS X5, just go to http://pnoy.me/coreltrials to download the trial.

Re: VS X3 Pro ug to VS X4
Hi everyone,
What a great forum,
I gave my concerns to Coral incidents and bingo they sent me an email with the sit to download my VS X3 program files.
After it asked for the Sn I entered the original from my registered products and off it went.
With this download came an option for Factory7SE
I then downloaded it and everything is hunky dory once again.
Many thanks to all who had an input it's great to know that this is such a friendly forum.
I guess now I will have to give some thought to VS X5 as a boxed upgrade.
It certainly looks impressive.
The cost from COREL Australia is very reasonable and they are giving freight free at the moment.
Once again thanks for your time and attention.

Re: VS X3 Pro ug to VS X4
Hi Ian
Good news, glad you managed to get the program working.
Now save the downloaded file in a safe place along with the serial number.
Then save / burn the files to a disc as a backup, you may need to use a DVD depending on the size..
By the way did you manage to login to your account on the corel site. Your serial numbers for all your products should be there.
Good luck

I MOST CERTAINLY WILL BE DOING THIS!!!
the downloads took some time as they are both large.
Based on my help and what I read of X5 I went ahead and ordered a boxed set.
Was a bit surprised that they come from TW.
Once more many thanks

Taiwan was, IIRC, where Ulead was originally located, and it was the progenitor of Video Studio. Corel maintained its production facilities there, though most of the Execs live in Canada... The servers for this web board are also in Taiwan.

My download here in the UK appears to have come from Portugal - that's the address on the invoice.

Long time since I spoke with you, (when you were in Canberra!)
I should have remembered about ULead it was my intro to VS.(VS SE 6.0)
VS X5 arrived today, presentation looks great, I have a few health issues and passed my V/Camera on to a Son, am hoping we may get a few projects going.
Have to brush a few cobwebs away and get moving.
I want to have a go at combining a few short video clips onto one DVD with menu options I did not get far with my 1st attempt.
Cheers
Ian Berry-Porter.
