HI,
I currently have VS Pro X4. Although the program is installed locally, where possible I store any data associated with my projects on my NAS.
My motherboard blew recently and so I'm about to replace it. I may well be looking at a complete OS re-install despite the fact that the only thing that is changing is the motherboard.
I have removed the HDD and am taking a copy of the C: drive before I re-install the OS.
Anyway, assuming that I do need to re-install my OS (Vista Ultime 32 bit) and applications, are there any files from the C: drive copy that I can / need to copy into the new installation of VS to carry on where I left off?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Re-installing
Hi Mike
You are editing a Video Studio Project, a VSP file
These contain your video files / audio and images ---- these files need to be kept.
We don’t know how you work in managing your personal media files nor where they are on your hard drive, but it is those and the VSP’s that you need to retain.
Then you should be able to use the VSP’s again. You will have to go through the process of re-linking the files but you should be able to do that.
All other files used from the library will be reinstalled.
If you have created your own Instant Projects or DVD Menu then you should save those.
Maybe best to save all files from ………..
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro
that is using XP

Re: Re-installing
Hi Trevor,
I keep all my media (and data in general and where possible) on the NAS so the VSPs are safe.
I'll take a look at the folder you mentioned and see if I can spot anything else. As mentioned in my previous post I will still have a copy of the 'old' C drive so if anything looks amiss I can always retrieve the file from there.
Regards,
Mike
