Will pro x4 support video cam?

Post by videoman »

Hey everyone. I have been having a beast of a time trying to find a program that will support the files from my new camera. It records in 1920 by 1080 30fps .MOV.
Windows movie maker and my old adobe program will not recognize this video I have recorded. Does anyone know if corel pro x4 is capable of importing and editing this footage? Would love to know before I purchase. I am not looking to convert the video either, I have tried that and it has really hurt the quality. Thanks in advance.

The easiest way to determine whether VideoStudio can edit the videos from YOUR camera on your computer is to try it in the FREE 30 day trial of the programme that you can download from here :- http://www.corel.com/corel/category.jsp ... cat3950067

Unfortunately, there is no simple answer. Different users have different experiences with .mov files, and we have no idea why -- though it most likely has to do with a computer's architecture and the other programs installed. I am one of the lucky ones who can use the latest, up to date version of the Quicktime .mov codec with Video Studio X4, and that includes the format your camera produces. Other users find, however, that they must use the earlier version of the codec which comes supplied with X4. Needless to say, this causes those people problems if they are also users of iTunes, which requires the most up to date version of Quicktime.

All I can suggest is that you install the trial version of X4 and see if it works for you with Quicktime...

You should note, however, that while VS can accept .mov files, subject to the foregoing caveat, it cannot produce .mov output files.

It probably has trouble with the files on an ad hoc basis, as the MOV is just a container, it is the same as the windows avi container.
This MOV file can contain hundreds of different types of files.
Some work well, some work ok, some fail and some work anywhere between :)
