Best Resolution ?

I have some old slides and pictures to scan and then create slideshow/movie using VS 8.
Curious to know if anyone has done this and what they find are the best resolution settings for the slides and pics so when I burn to dvd, they look ok when viewing on tv.

I use NTSC:

Pictures for slideshows:
Field_Order = Framebased
FrameSize = 720x480
Qualtiy = 80%
Variable_Bit_Rate = 6000 to 8000kbs
Audio = lpcm 16bit 48khz stereo
or Dolby 2/0 256kbs

Moving video (tapes, tv shows etc)
Field_Order = (Depends on your capturing device) Upper or Lower
FrameSize = 720x480
Qualtiy = 80%
Variable_Bit_Rate = 6000 to 8000kbs
Audio = lpcm 16bit 48khz stereo
or Dolby 2/0 256kbs

These are standard Dvd settings.
