X4 testversion shows chinese dialogs

Hello all,
First - hello to all from Munich, Germany! This is my first post.

Up to now I am using a competitor product for video editing and now I am looking for a new product since the support there was really bad. I tried the testversion of Videostudio X4 and downloaded the recommended file from the website which is the german version. I installed it on a XP 32 Bit machine and also on a Vista Ultimate 32 Bit machine.

In both cases the first dialogs (welcome and registration) after running the program are in Chinese language. Now, the problems are:
- Although I can translate the contents by google translator I do not register the program in this case. I don't know what is comming up after that.
- The Corel support does not do anything when you don't specify a registered product.

So - they kick themselves out of course and I have to stay on the competitor product. Or has someone an idea to get a solution for that?

the X4 trial version is 827 Mb

Uninstall your program, then re-install the new file, does this program run ok.

I have just viewed the Corel.com site including the German site.
The trial / test version link seems to download the same file VSX4_Pro_TBYB.exe at 827Mb (847Mb)

This page is in German for me. I think they change the language according to the IP address

I try now the german download ("..... cat3610111) and retry the installation and will give feedback...

Hi,
Now, I have downloaded the file again. Indeed, the filename is the same: VSX4_Pro_TBYB.exe
The size is also the same: 868.080.984 Bytes

But anyway, I will try reinstallation.

One thing: The 2 "machines" as I wrote are in the same computer (dual boot). Can it be that the BIOS or the board triggers the language?
I am also am a programmer and cannot imagine that, but who knows?

Yes I think the problem is associated with your computer rather than the type of file.

Chinese has been an issue before, I recall one user in China that wished to run it in English.
I have searched the forum and found some mentions of Chinese but as yet not found a solution. Maybe other forum members will recall the problem/fix

Being a programmer you are probably better placed to find this problem.

Hello all,
first I want to thank you for your support and I want to give a final feedback for this issue.
The Corel support answered (although the version was not registered) and gave a new link to me. But the file and the result was the same. Then I deleted all the registry entries which were obviously related to the video studio X4 and it worked!

I admit, doing that I remembered that I have downloaded a trial version one year ago and saw the chinese dialogs and decided to buy the competitor product (which is not bad in any way but the support as I said). Maybe this early trial version was bad.

The first look on the program now was great. It seems to be a really good and useful product. An hour ago I saw that X5 is released and I will buy a licence. Maybe I am back with questions or answers on that

Brilliant, it did seem strange and really had to be associated with your pc.
Glad you have it working, download the trial version of X5 and give it a 30 day free run.
