Unrecognized Scanner... sometimes :-(

Post by gfavero »

The background:
Paint Shop Pro X2 ver. 12.01
Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F with latest drivers ver. 14.0.6.64
Windows 7 64 bit
I have one administrator account and two users accounts (user A and user B) with the same priviledges

The Problem:
I can use my scanner smoothly if I log in as either administrator and user A, conversely when I log in as user B PSP tells me "no scanner found".
If I log in as user B and run PSP as administrator the scanner is recognized and works properly.
When the scanner works, inside PSP - File - Import - Twain origin I see the following window
TWAIN OK
TWAIN OK
Twain_ok.JPG (17.61 KiB) Viewed 3518 times
indicating both "CanoScan LiDE 700F 14.0 (32-32)" and "WIA-WIA CanoScan LiDE 700F 1.0 (32-32)" options; when the scanner doesn't work the first option is missing and I see only "WIA-WIA CanoScan LiDE 700F 1.0 (32-32)".

The situation aside:
With all the other installed software (e.g. Adobe or Microsoft Office) the scanner works properly whatever account I am logged in.
I tried removing and reinstalling both PSP and scanner drivers without succeeding.

The solution:
Please help me, I'm getting crazy! Gabriele

What happens when you go to File>Import>From Scanner or Camera?

I have now put the WIA Acquire icon on the toolbar for quick access and experience no problems with my Canon Pixma all-in-one.

The only reason that I can think why this is happening is that PSP X2 is not full comptible with Windows 7, you can visit http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... patibility for more information.

You may want to test if the same thing happens on PSP X4, which is the latest version of PaintShop Pro, you can go to http://pnoy.me/coreltrials to download the trial

Maybe I cannot explain myself, I try again: the scanner works fine inside PSP running on Win7 x64 if I log in as User A, conversely it is not recognised if I log in as User B. Both users are standard windows users not administrators; if a run PSP as administrator either user I had logged in, everthing is ok.
Bye,
