Brightness filter in v8

Hello out there.....for some reason, the brightness (and contrast) filter in Videostudio 8 doesn't allow you to raise the brightness to a set level - instead, when you apply that filter (say, increase brightness to+30), the clip starts out brightness +30 then gradually lowers the brightness as the clip runs on!

This is a pretty weird "feature" and I was really relying on being able to increase the contrast - this is the main effect I want to use.

Can anyone try it - does everyone else have the same problem? I tried all the 8 presets for that filter - they all do this.

There is a little cogwheel to the left of the screen that appears with the effect you have dropped on to the vid in the timeline. You can customize the filter there.
