dmp message

Post by arjen »

Hi,

I'm dealing with a dmp problem. I'm using a tryout version PRO X4. I still use Studio 9 on my old computer and before PRO X4 I used 11.5 on my new computer but that's unstabile with Windows. Since this morning I got the dmp message. What happened ?
I started my computer and my antivirus program Panda asked to upgrade. I did, I had to restart my computer and completed this.

Shortly after this I started working with X4, I opened the project I was working with and after this I put a usb stick with photo's in the usbdrive and let X4 copy them to the library, and shortly after this I got a dump message. Thinking about this I noticed that after the virus upgrade it took much longer to open X4. Normally it runs directly but after the virus upgrade it took some time. After the dmp message I had to leave the program, I started it again opened the same project and got the same message.

At last I copied the photo's to my D drive (not via X4) started X4 and made a new project and putting clips from the former project in the new one. The same message appeared. What went wrong, a conflict with the Panda Cloud virus program, a USB mismatch, I don't know. Who can help me ?
:(

Hi,

I posted my problem a week ago and tried to find a solution myself but untill now,no success.

last week I received several dmp messages again. I tried to fix them first by giving the project a different name and ,saving them again. Bad luck.

Is there anyone who has the same problem ?

Hi

Sorry you haven’t had any response to your post, It has been read a few times so I guess nobody has a definite answer.

Can you restore the library.
Go to Settings—Library Manager Reset library.
This will restore the library to its original installed state.
If you wish to make a copy, export the library first.

Does that help.

When you insert files to the library you are adding a virtual clip, a thumbnail which is linked to the files on the hard drive.
In your case the memory stick. The USB stick has to remain connected when using Video Studio.
You will be best to copy the files to your hard drive, then import to Video Studio

Hi Lata,

thanks for helping. I tried your solution/suggestion.I restored the library as you mentioned and it was clean again.

After that I started a whole new simple project to test.

First I put some audioclips and images (scanned images from a cartoonbook) in the library. After that I moved the images in the project, after this the audioclips (no more then 3 or 4 tiny clips and images). Then I moved a view transitionclips between the images, meanwhile I saved the project several times to my D drive. A few minutes later came a dmp message: C:Users\Arjen\AppData|Local\Temp\vstudio_14.1.0.150_20120307_120454.DMP.

No more to say.

Any further tips,ideas ?

Hi

It seems as though it is one of the clips that Video Studio does not like, whether it be a Audio, Image or Video?
If the audios are MP3 then convert them to Wav.

The Error shows the version as 14.1.0.150, have you updated the program by installing the Service Packs.
As far as I know the fully patched program is 14 2 0 23

There is a link at the top of this forum for Patches & Updates.

Hi Trevor,

thanks for your help (again).

I'm using a 30 day trial version and I thought that I could not download the latest patches. Thanks to your tip I followed the instructions and the patch was installed.

I'm still using VS 9 on my old computer (very stable) and had 11.5 on this computer, unfortunately not stable with Windows 7, so I thought let's try this new version and if it works well I'll buy it.......

I followed the same routine again, but again I got a dmp message, this time:

C:Users\Arjen\AppData|Local\Temp\vstudio_14.2.0.23_20120307_171726.DMP.

The message came when I changed the contrast in colourcorrection. I tried to put some contrast in a photo by using the the slider (I'm Dutch so my English is average ! and I'm translating it to English..I hope..)

The pictures in the project are jpg's and the audiotracks are wav's (made in Magix Music Cleaning Lab).

So the problem remains. :?: :?:

Perhaps you or someone from Corel has another tip.

Kind regards,

Arjen

Hi Arjen

There have been some issues using Jpegs with Progressive compression.
Generally Jpegs use Baseline.

From the timeline right click the images and select properties, the Jpeg tab should show the info.

I did not realise you were using the trial version
Video Studio X5 was released today, you should be able to download the trial.
Give it a try!
You may be best to uninstall X4 trial first?

Hi Trevor,

I know that jpgs are compressed files but what is the relation with the problem ? I'm not an expert with these things.
.
The Tab shows "baseline" so what does this mean ?

I appreciate your help but moving to a new version is that a good idea ?

Hi Arjen

Image problems were related to Progressive types, as you are using Baseline then no problems.

You are using the trial version of X4, this is no longer available for sale it has been superseded by X5.
The new program may handle your files more efficiently.

Given time I will run a few tests applying the correction filters, however I always associated these with video files rather than images?
I would use my image editor to correct any issues with my images.
