Frame rate. If the input "frame rate' is 50, and the output rate is 50, that is not working for me. I need to actually use the Source FR as the output FR.

The original video presents 50fps to mediaInfo. The created videos that WORK present _frame_ RATES that vary. No other conversion will give me a non-flicker result.
What do you mean it is not working for you, do you mean you cannot render a video to 50 fps using Video Studio?

Hi Nick

Right click the flickering video clip and select properties, what are they?
Attach the image to your post.

I tried, but funny things happened. I asked to append a file. It made my upload go to 44k for several minutes, but then nothing happened when the ul speed dropped to 0. So tried to submit the message and my ul speed went up to 44K and stayed there. I left it to itself and suddenly a blank reply page came up. My post never made it.

I will add that the codec used was added by me at somebody else's suggestion. It gave good clean video and in no way affected the flicker issue.

It was said that video is 50fps, but that half the frames have been stripped to make 25fps then doubled. That certainly explains the flicker.

I used Program Settings,AVI, asked for 50fps (by typing it in) and a high bitrate.

Hi Nick

You started this post asking how you could render your video without it being jerky.
We provided you with a template that you can try using Video studio, this will create a video file using the properties of your original video file. Well as near as we can get it.

You have converted your MTS file which is mpeg2 to AVI., this is completely wrong.
Your frame size is totally inappropriate for a HD video at Width : 720 pixels Height : 400 pixels

Please follow the detailed instructions I posted earlier to create a template suitable for rendering your video file.
If you have already done this then please post the video files properties.

Your tone indicates censure and irritation.

The frame size has NOTHING to do with the flicker problem. You wanjted me to post nup a 1920*1080 video? Hell no! Ain't gunna happen. the 400*720 looks fine on my PC, for testing the FLICKER.

Inappropriate or not, avi was my only choice. I used AVI because (I thought) I was told to use avi. If I ask for mpeg I get only two choices: ntsc or pal. No settings.

The codec I used was giving a far better output than the ones on offer, and smaller file sizes per quality.

Elsewhere I got info that allowed me to creat REAL 50fps video, regardless of the format, frame size or whatever, using another programme. Both Adobe Elements and Sony Vegas (even the cheap ones) give me good, flicker-free output, with preset settings, pretty much straight out of the box. And yes they can do a good avi as well

I am gone.

I'm afraid I am of the opinion all of the conversions are contributing to the flicker, I was also of the opinion we were working on the original file problems.
Which avi of the 800+ are you converting to?

If this was me and I had Adobe and vegas both working poroducing a final file that worked, I wouldn't be wasting my time trying to get VS to work, I'd have editied and moved on to the next one by now using Adobe :)
