transferring to dvd confusion

Post by dcmax »

When I try to write to DVD from studio 9 i always get the error there is no disc in the drive or that the disc is full... I am using a philips DVDR 16x DVD +R/-R internal recorder and am trying to use the discs I use on my DVD TV recorder from the lounge.. Am I to assume its imposssible to re format an old DVD +RW or - RW once it has been used on to record on the TVs machine...

If it is in fact rewritable media, you should be able to write to it again.

The error message you are seeing is likely the result of having DLA (Drive Letter Access) software such as Nero's InCD or Roxio's Drag-To-Disk loaded. These programs take control of the drive and media when a disk is inserted, and interfere with other programs trying to access the drive. They must be either unloaded prior to running UVS or uninstalled completely for UVS to work.

hi, as THoff mentioned, it could be some DLA software interfering.

One thing I noticed that has caused confusion in the past. Some DVD+R discs have a little square logo with the letters "RW" in it. And some folks think that indicates it's a re-writeable disc. I don't know why they chose that logo (it causes confusion), but those DVD+R discs can not be re-written to...

Have you tried erasing the dvd first.
and after you erase the dvd take it out of the drive.
Put the dvd into the drive when you are in the menu
creation screen which is the screen before the preview
screen.
Maybe then the other packet writing software will not
take the drive over.
You probably have to erase the dvd.
