The raw file can be made available if required for testing.
Did a further test, if viewed at 100% the pattern is not visible. Nor in an exported file.

That's a familiar pattern - moire.
Not sure what caused it here. Is this on the output file? What is your sharpening settings on the output queue? And what type of sharpening are you using in ASP?

Re: Strange pattern on mesh fabric. Olympus E510 raw file.
This phenomenon is called moiré.
It is "normal".

http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutori ... ensors.htm
http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Glossar ... ire_01.htm
EDIT:
Ah, sorry for misread. You have stated that it is not visible in 100% nor exported image. So fortunately this particular case is not sensor moire. It is rather aliasing caused by (simple) downsampling algorithm in viewer code.
So for this case is described as "aliasing" in the first link.
It can be avoided (if it is product of your manual resize in photo editor) with careful selection of resize alorithm and some treatment.
http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutori ... or-web.htm
In ASP you can do nothing with it, when it occurs in this place.
Maybe if you introduce some blur, you will avoid it, but with that you will destroy your image, and the only benefit will be better display within ASP on sub-100% magnifications.

Andy Salay

Re: Strange pattern on mesh fabric. Olympus E510 raw file.
OK thanks for the help. It appears the problem is in the preview display of the image and does not affect the final file. I just do not see the same problem in Capture One and Lightroom.

AS uses a relatively simple downscaling algorithm for the previews, I guess for speed reasons.
It used to be even worse....

In Preferences|Display did you select Show only high quality previews?

That only disables annoying intermediate rendering steps...marbly wrote:In Preferences|Display did you select Show only high quality previews?
