X2 Help - with re-installing

Hello all--

Looking for a little help. I hope someone has time to take a look.

I recently had to do a full reinstall of alot of software on my HD. X2 was one of them.

I still have the original email when I bought it with the download link and the serial number.

I emailed Corel support and they told me those should still work.

I DL the file and when I try to install it I get:

“This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exist and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Patch package”


I have been told several times it should work. But it doesn't.

Does anyone know where I can get a clean install file or maybe an original 30 day trial instal for X2 then I can just put in my serial number?

The error message says you are trying to install a patch - have you already installed the main programme ?

No--I haven't reinstalled anything else. I can't seem to find a clean install of X2. I think this was a patch upgrade from X1 to X2.

If I could find an install of X2, the serial number should work right?

I was actually thinking of just buying a new retail copy of X2 and trying that.

What is the name of the file you downloaded and how big in MB.

There seems to be some confusion as to whether the file is an update patch (Service pack) or the actual program.

If the original purchase was an UpGrade from an earlier version (X1) then you will also need the earlier version or serial number to install the upgrade X2 program.

From your original post, it appears that you purchased the download version of PSP X2. You can still try and redownload file by going to your corel.com account and locate the order information from there. You should be able to see the download link from there and use that to download and install the program before you install the service pack.
