I am making a slide show with Video Studio and would like to create a menu on the dvd with 4 chapters for the main slide show and one special feature type slide show that would be part of the same project that can be selected to play seperate from the main slide, but on the same menu. Is this at all possible to do.
Thanks, Graphics 4 Fun

Re: Video Studio/ Slide Show Project
That is good to know. I am totally new at this, could you explain or tell me how I might accomplish this. I have the main slide completed and I am well pleased with it (it is my first slideshow using Corel Video Studio). My images for the Seperate Feature are collected and ready.

Re: Video Studio/ Slide Show Project
Hi
Create a separate video file of your projects.
Share Create Video File DVD will render the project to a Mpeg2 file.
Do the same for the Separate Feature project.
Start a new project, Nothing in the timelines, Share Create Disc DVD
The burner module opens, top left Add Media-Add Video Files
Browse your hard drive to find the two Mpeg2 Video files.
For each video added a link will be used in the main menu.
If you wish to add Chapters to your slide show do this from the first window.
From the second window you choose a template from the Gallery.
Below the preview screen allows you to select the chapter menu page.
Navigation controls, click the Cogwheel lower left.
The Navigation Controls affect the way the main menu page reacts, it does not affect the Chapter menu.
Set by default to Auto Repeat.
Finally when you leave the module, click Close takes you back to the edit timelines.
Save the project, call it Burn Slide Show. File Save or Save As
When you open this project again the timeline will be empty, Share Create Disc will open the burner with hopefully your menu in tact.

Re: Video Studio/ Slide Show Project
I need some help on this project.
I decided to start over on the main slideshow (to add more elements) before attempting to bring it all together (per my original question). However I have ran into a problem, I need to shorten the project total duration time, but it won't let me and I can not figure out how to do that.
By default it had set all images at 6 seconds and I have been going through each one adding title text, transitions and image duration. There are about 334 images with a 0:28:40.26 project duration. I had been adjusting the individual image duration from 6 sec's to 3 sec's until the 73rd image, that's as far as it will let me. I have spent alot of time on this and do not want to have to start over.
I had started the project using the movie wizard but my computer crashed twice on me (while I was arranging the image sequence) and had to close Corel, before I could finish that phase. Fortunately before it crashed the second time I had saved my work. So from there I've been working on it in the Video editor.
Thanks, Graphics4fun
using: Video Studio 12
Edit: I found a work around... seems the audio track needed to be shorten on the time line and now I can proceed. Still not able to just set project duration but perhaps it is just my lack of knowledge.
looking forward to trying the above reply. Thanks, did i mention I e'm new at this?

Re: Video Studio/ Slide Show Project
Hi
You seem to be in a bit of a fix here…….
We don’t know exactly what you have done or what transitions / effects you have applied.
Reading between the lines and I would start again.
Save the project giving it a new name.
Drag all images to the library to create a copy
Delete all images, re insert from library using 3 seconds.
Each Title /audio may need adjusting separately
------------------------------
Transitions, have you used a single type, Crossfade etc or have you used Random..
If you have used random then simply delete all, set the duration in preferences and add them again.
However you indicate using Titles in which case they would go out of sync with the clips. You would have to use Ripple Editing manually changing the durations, which it seems is what you are doing.
When you come to a clip with a title/audio below then Ripple Editing will stop you changing the duration. Move the clip out of the way. Then resize.
If you have applied Transitions then the length of these will limit the length of the clips they are applied to?
If you have a batch of images, by batch I mean adjacent clips with no other clips below then batch re-size.
Click the first, Shift Click the last selecting the batch.
Clip menu-- Change Image / Colour Duration set 3 seconds. Should resize all selected clips.
Repeat for other clear batches in the timeline.
Other Options
Render the project to a single video file DV-Avi. Remove the audio clips first.
Using the Dv-Avi adjust the playback speed. Add audio clips
Render again to save as first clip.
Why do you need the duration at 3 seconds seems very short
Ok
More thoughts on this.
Switch off Ripple Editing
Select all clips Shift+Click
Clip – Change Image Duration to 3 seconds, only the transition duration will limit this.
Reposition Titles and audio clips.
Otherwise get it right first time

Re: Video Studio/ Slide Show Project
Thank you so very much for you help.
So far it appears to be adjusting as I would like it too. The Audio sound track is, oh! 58secs repeated. I delete the last couple of repeats and will keep doing so as needed til finished.
I decided on 3 secs as a basis because there are over 300 images and want to keep the viewer interested.
My project is "Year In-Review 2011" For our Radio Control Airplane Club out at the flying field.
Transition's are mostly Crossfade/fx with Hinge-Rotate to seperate the days and Flying-Board 3D to seperate the months otherwise the are all crossfade. I am adding a more time on the images that I've added text to. I going through them one at a time sliding/sizing the text, customizing pan & zoom; I am at 106 of 334.
As for my first post regarding a seperate feature on the same menu, for a short collection of images of a member whom passed away. ( a memorial).
Agian, thanks! Tiny little bits by bits I am learning. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'm at a 0.5

Re: Video Studio/ Slide Show Project
Hi
Seems a long way to 334, by then you will be at 10 on the learning curve.
Try this
Save the project giving it another name.
(F6) preferences, set the image duration to 3 seconds.
Set transitions to use CrossFade
Drag all images to the library, create a new page for this.
Delete all images from the timeline.
Drag all images back to timeline, these should be 3 seconds using a cross fade of 1 second.
This does not leave the image in view for long, are you sure you need to use images as short as this?
Now Drag all Titles to the library.
Delete titles in the timeline
Work through adding titles at the appropriate time, increasing the image duration.
Replace the transition at this point.
At the end delete the unwanted audio clips.
Note :- use Shift+click to select multiple clips.
As for the separate feature, create a separate project and render to a separate video file. You can either use this to play as first clip, or a separate title on the dvd.
