I spent in the region of around 2-3 hours yesterday trying to solve this issue and eventually came across the fix for it in this forum.
I am therefore posting the topic link here so that it can be found much more easily when people search on Google. (Thanks to Kingston and Ken)

The problem that i was having was that no matter what i tried when working with 50p footage, anytime i slowed the shot down it came out exactly as would a normal 25p shot (jumpy, basically rubbish).
The link above gives the solution to this and for the life of me i cannot fathom why Corel have not made this as standard!
By changing the timeline to 50fps, footage can now be interpreted as 50 fps and therefore when speed changes are made (i.e. 50%) it renders beautifully smooth and without jumps. This truly has changed the way that we edit videos and means that we are getting much more from our 50p footage, so much so we are moving all cameras to this format.
I hope this helps save some other people some time and effort. And Corel if you are listening, wake up and smell the 50p roses!
Thanks,
50p to 25p Slow Motion
