Plugin Sources from Thomas Baruchel

Post by afx »

Hi,
anyone interested in porting the Plugins from Thomas Baruchel?

I have some of the sources at
http://afximages.com/stuff/plugins/Baru ... ources.tgz
Aaron
Bathsheba
Bathsheba_Solomon
LabColors
LabContrast
LabCurves
NegativePositive
SelectColor
SimpleFrame

They all are based on the Bibbe 5.0 API, so some effort is required to make them work in AS.

My feeble attempt a porting MathBox to AS is at
http://afximages.com/stuff/plugins/Math ... Source.zip
I just don't find the time to clean it up and document it properly.....
Here is a compiled version (thanks to Jonathan):
http://afximages.com/stuff/plugins/Mathbox_WML.afzplug

cheers

Which computer language do I need to know to port plugins, BTW?

C++ with QT, and you need access to the ASP SDK (available on request)

Unfortunately I have not written in the right languages but I would certainly be willing to make a small donation for LabCurves/LabColors which I use with B5 for solarisation and tweaks.

I am sorry, but exactly what are you saying here? I know c, c++ and c# but I have never heard of c+. Is it a mistype? When I googled c+ all I got was c++, QT-C++ and c+-. Do you mean QT with C++?

Hi!

In terms of demand for the plugins afx mentions, I for one would be interested in having:
Aaron
Batsheba (preferably the Uriah version, but that one I believe was not developed further in the age of B5...)
Channel Mixer
Lab Colors
Lab Curves
Select Color
Simple Color Filter

Channel Mixer should be obsoleted by zChannelMixer i think:

Hi!

Yes, that is absolutely correct!
Copying and pasting text from a list to another sometime give rather unwanted results...

Thanks for pointing this out :-) !

Sorry. In my haste I hadn't noticed where that had been posted on the other place. What I said was:
As I said previously, given that most of these are just tonality plugins then it shouldn't be hard using an existing port of a tonality plugin (like Bez) as a template. The question is, which ones are needed most?

Half of Lab contrast is in Bez.

Do we need Simple Frame given that we have zFrame (and given that it's likely to be harder)?

One of us might have a go at one or two if there is some sign of demand.
Gareth at least nominated only one, for starters. FotoLars should specify some sort of priority order. Long unordered lists won't advance the cause. Some understanding of why something is important would help to motivate plugin authors - as it will still take some time and testing. No-one will want to put the effort in just on a whim. If these get done they will probably be done one at a time over a period of time. I'm not sure when I could start if I volunteered to do one, as the port of Bez took a lot longer than I had budgeted for (largely my own fault), and I am way behind on other things.

Naming one plugin, my vote would go to LabColors. Sometimes it has shown to be useful in B5.
The rest in my former list can be omitted.

would be nice to have:
Select Color - use it to make backgrounds for panorama - photos
Simple Color Filter - to change one color ... Seans Dinky (Digital Ink and Light) would be another tool to do that - don't know if it will be updated for ASP

Is Mr Baruchel not going to be developing anymore?
