VideoStudio X4 Extras Download Issues

Hi all,

I wonder if someone can help me?

I'm trying to download the extra Templates/Audio/Title/Tools that are available through the 'Corel Guide -> Do More' dialog. When I click on any of the 'Download Now' buttons nothing happens. I've used the Fiddler HTTP proxy to see if any HTTP/HTTPS traffic is generated, but there's nothing. This in itself might be normal behaviour.

I've tried to contact Corel support via their ticketing system, however it seems a bit schizophrenic, it tells me the ticket was created, and directly bellow that message it says the operation failed. I checked my account and no ticket was created.

I then tried emailing support@corel.com and info@corel.com with details of my problem and both emails bounced

Now I've ended up on this forum in the hope someone can either help me directly, provide a valid email address for Corel or hopefully someone from Corel reads this. I'm within my 90 days of free support.

If it helps these are the system details:
Product: VideoStudio Pro X4 Ultimate
RAM: 8GB
Version: 14.2.0.23
OS: Windows 7 X64 Ultimate, fully patched
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 2.8Ghz
Language: English (UK)

Welcome to the forums.
Have you registered the program on the Corel site?

There are not many Corel people reading these forums, However Abiel Corel NA may comment on this problem

Corel Support
Log on to your account and you should have a Pin Number used when contacting support.
In the past I have never had a problem in asking a question, e-mails do seem to be answered.

Just tried to use the Contact Tech Support to be told that “This Page Could Not Be Found”
So yes there does seem to be a problem with the Corel site

Download Templates.
When you access the Corel Guide do the links show as Download Now or Installed?
By the way these templates are used with the Instant Project not DVD Menu Templates.
They have to be manually linked-inserted to the Instant Project library.

The Titles Tab
The downloads here automatically install, you are prompted to install, each pack will add 10 new titles to the program, increasing the library content.

And I assume your firewall is not blocking Corel Video Studio from downloading these files?

We're currently doing an upgrade on the corel web site, so I do apologize for the error when acessing the Contact Tech Support of corel.com.

@Paul, just downloaded on of the Title Pack 5 and I was able to download it. Does the same thing happens on all the DOWNLOAD NOW button that you are clicking? You may want reset your connection. To reset your connection, just restart your router (or modem) before restarting the computer.

You suggest that Paul login to his account. How is this done? I see no option through the Corel guide that launches at VS14 startup. Accounts could be a route for sending Corel DMP files when the program instructs you to do so. [Another thread? -Does anyone take any notice when asked to send a DMP file?] Should I admit I have been using VS since ver. 10 and not known I had an account.

Your account details should be on the Corel Web Site
http://www.corel.com/corel/index.jsp

To the top left is a link to sign-in.
Using an email address and password takes you to Your Account page.

Every time you purchase a Ulead / Corel product you should register the software, this gives you access to Corel Support.
All serial numbers for all registered products are available.

You mention VS10, that was a while ago, my details show VS 10 being registered on 2006-05-31.

As far as I know you have to sign-in to receive Corel support, but as Abiel states the web site is being updated?

Well what do you know? I was already registered, but can't recall doing so, although I did access support for earlier versions. Maybe that was why the process always seemed so convoluted!

I have logged into my Account on the Corel website and my registered products are as expected.

All buttons on the tab pages say ‘Download Now’ with the exceptions of:

Audio:
Jamendo (http://www.jamendo.com)

Tools:
PaintShop Photo Pro X3 (which is installed along with PSP X4)
Boris Graffiti (Buy Now)
NewBlueFX Special Offer (Find out More)
All of the buttons to non-Corel websites open in my web browser as expected.

And I assume your firewall is not blocking Corel Video Studio from downloading these files?

I’m behind a proxy server and I’ve monitored all traffic emitted from my PC destined for the Internet and nothing shows up as being blocked other than that I expect. The Windows firewall is off and no other is installed

I tried Title Pack 5 and nothing happen, Just a busy cursor for about ½ a second then nothing. I've rebooted my proxy and router.

Okay I’ve cracked it, it’s a bit obscure and I doubt it will occur for most users.

My machine is on a domain and the domain, as a Policy Object, remaps the User Shell Folders to a share on a server. These are stored in the registry as \\<Server>\UserData\UserName\ where the user only has full permission for the UserName and Subfolders.

If I map to a drive to \\<Server>\UserData\UserName\ and temporarily point the User Shell Folder to the mapped drive it all springs into life.

I’ve no idea which specific redirection is responsible, I just did the lot and crossed my fingers.

I should add that editing the registry isn’t recommended unless you’re aware of what you’re doing and you’ve backed up the keys.

Good to hear that you have managed to sort the problem.
I assume you are able to download the extra Title Packs and Templates.

Out of interest just how many thumbnails do you see in the library.
I suppose I am asking if you have installed the Contents file, this should complete the installation by adding clips, filters, templates to the program.
For instance I see 70 ish clips in the FX library when viewing All.

I have 72 on FX->All however there doesn't appear to be any for download just Templates/Title/Tools

I believe the extra content is installed as I have Mercalli and Boris installed

Its looking good
The Title library starts with 25 and increases by 10 each time you install the Title Packs 5, 6, 7.

The “template” downloads are used with the Instant Projects, the templates being manually added after accessing the instant project, "Import a Project template" option.
