How to make Custom Menus to use in DVD Authoring?

Post by Gumper »

Is there a way to use my own images and music for Menu Templates in the DVD Authoring interface?

yes indeed - while your in the edit mode also note that you can move all the elements of the menu so that if a thumbnail covers something you can move it - you can also 'Hide' many of the elements so that they are not visible on the final menu

Hi Brian.
I see that I can change an existing template by hiding or changing the transparency of objects in that template, allowing me to see the new background I brought in. I don't see anyway of saving that as a new template so it is a "one time only" use. Once the project is burned to disk, the customized template is reset to default.
Is there a way of creating a brand new template that I can save to use again?

Hi

From the Edit tab choose "custom"

After changing some details the "Save as template" below the screen will be available.
The template will be saved and show in the Favourites Gallery

Yes - while in the 'Edit' section of the menu creation portion down the left side is a 'Customise' button which allows you to make further change - moving almost anything in the preview window should allow the "Add to menu template" icon under the preview screen to highlight and become available to you. Click on it and the new template will be saved on your hard drive and will be available to you in the 'favorites' section of the menu gallery.

Note that all menus are aspect specific - so if you create a new template in 16:9 it is only available when using 16:9 it will not show when working with 4:3 you need to make a specific template for that.

In the Authoring window, I see the Customize Layout tab. I make changes in there but I do not see anything about 'Save as Template' appearing afterwards.
Below the screen, the "currently displayed menu" item is greyed out.

After you click on the 'edit' tab and then down the left hand side click on 'customise' a new window should open - in that new window there is not a 'currently displayed menu' option - only the greyed out save template option until you make a change - if you start from the first picture below then click where I have indicated do you not then have a window like the second image :
