I have a number of issues with PSP X4, but htis one is bugging me now.
When I try to set text I get outlined characters, and I can't figure out how to get the outlines filled with color.
I am selecting solid fonts.
I'd like to use the figure in making my own tubes as well as signing my photos.

Re: Text not filled in PSPX4
Is your background color set? In PSP the fill is determined by the background color and the stroke is determined by the foreground color on the Materials Palette.

Re: Text not filled in PSPX4
Well the only other thing is to check whether or not the background color is turned off. I'm assuming the fill doesn't match the color of the image underneath it.
Otherwise you could try resetting your workspace to factory defaults. Open PSP while holding Shift from the desktop and it should ask if you want to reset your workspace.

I'm having the same trouble. I am unable to get a solid letter on my picture or anywhere. The letters are outlined. I already reset to factory default.
BTW..... have backround and foreground colors chosen. I've spent hours fiddling around.... no solid letters.

Same problem been dealing with it for days and haven't figured it out. What I have figured out is the text is the color of the background palette, not the stroke pallete, which is why it is invisible. I can't figure out how to change the text back to the stroke palette.

Re: Text not filled in PSPX4
I experienced a similar situation the other day. Outline seemed to be the background color, inside was transparent, and even though I had a stroke width set the foreground colour did not appear.(Later found thatthe stroke was not large enough for the image size.)
Discovered that it occurred with a particular font. (I changed the font to Arial a tried and true font and all behaved as normal.) One font that shows an outline in the background colour is MeltdownMF
