Disappearing suppport options eg straighten tool

Post by Imjinman »

When in Edit mode and I click Straighten tool or Clone, say, the there is no windows dialogue box to say select horizontal or vertical correction or even the tick to apply. Where has it disappeared to? How do I restore it?

Thanks for help

When in Edit mode
I assume that you're in PSP X4 since X3 had that named differently.
I click Straighten tool or Clone, say, the there is no windows dialogue box to say select horizontal or vertical correction or even the tick to apply.
When you click the straighten tool, you should see a line appear dead center of the image with a "handle" at each end. When you click and drag those handles to line up with the horizon line that you want to be level the check mark (apply button) should appear on the Tool Options Palette (press F4 if you don't see the tool options palette). If you can't get the Tool Options palette to appear or if it's malfunctioning you may need to reset the workspace.

If you have a saved workspace you'd just use that.
File> Workspace> if your workspace is shown click it.
If not, save your workspace first, File> Workspace> Save then name it.
Then close the program, find the desktop shortcut to open PSP and double click it while holding the shift key. If asked are you sure click yes. If this doesn't fix it and you want your old workspace back just go back to File> Workspace> then find the one you saved or click Open and find it.

Let us know if this fixes it or not.
Regards, Dan

Thank you for your help. And the terminology- it was the Tools Options Palette that was missing. And I reset and there it is. will remember to save my workspace in future and the F4 trick.
