Re: zText
Hi again, tintin
While moving the mouse arrow over the donate button with "focus follows mouse" activated in the desktop environment (KDE in this very case) as I always have, the donate frame area becomes active and the arrow becomes a hand. If the hand presses the donate button, the entire window closes immediately. If the mouse arrow clicks the Close button, the window disappears right away and the mouse arrow becomes a hand. This hand can't do anything in ASP except minimising/maximising the ASP window. Kill, etc then must be used in order to terminate ASP.
The reset button works as expected.
The logfile will come in a PM!
Cheers,
Lars Nilsson

Using Mint 11(Ubuntu) clicking on the Donate Button opens Firefox 10.0.2 but does not pass the URL to the browser.
This is a documented problem with Firefox and Linux. You possibly need to include a text for the URL link on the help page as well.
The button does work if the default browser is Chromium.

Works fine on my Unity 11.10 too, with zText 2.1.0.

Re: zText
Besides the issues with the "about" button which I also have experienced - Fedora 16 64bit here - I'd like to see an option to zText to add embossed texts such as those generated by this ImageMagick code which I run when I convert my pictures for web publication:
The final result looks like this:

In this example, "composite" combines the image ~/fotos/utils/stamp.png (which contains my text signature, as prepared per IM's instructions - see this link and go to "Using a Mask Image with Fonts" in the end of the page. I don't know if ASP provides the needed routines to do the job, of you'd have to write the code yourself or if you could get a hook from IM's binaries to implement this feature - say, "check for IM's binaries and, if they are present, then use it to do the necessary processing" as per the recipe I've indicated here.
Code: Select all
composite -dissolve 50 -gravity southwest ~/fotos/utils/stamp.png

May be a Mint 11 issue, although the correct settings are in Gconf.

Not an issue on Win XP or Win7 ...

Re: zText
I suspect an interaction with the Windowing system.
Could those that have problems switch to something else for a test?
I use XFCE....

Have just experimented with XFCE.
Donate Button links correctly to Firefox, seems you may well be right about Windowing system.

Thanks for the thought,

Re: zText
Other than the pop up box saying zFrame instead of zText all the buttons work including the link to the donation button, with Ubuntu 11.10 Unity. No lockups or crashes.
Thanks.

Hi tin.tin,
seems to be a well hidden problem .... did you get in contact with one of the developers of the plugins where the popup does not cause the freeze (ref. HERE) ... maybe they have some idea or can provide their <?> button handling code for comparison ?
I see two major differences in your popup compared to all others:

I see two major differences in your popup compared to all others:
- your window has no border/title-bar/decorations, just the plain content visible
- all other have only simple multi line text + an icon, your popup looks more like some HTML document ?
- enable border/title-bar/etc. for your popup
- skip the <donate> button
- use simple multi line text

Doesn't the shadow option render text in a very similar way?Zarastro wrote:Besides the issues with the "about" button which I also have experienced - Fedora 16 64bit here - I'd like to see an option to zText to add embossed texts such as those generated by this ImageMagick code which I run when I convert my pictures for web publication

No. Here's an example of embossing. The effect I'd like for zImage would be embossing the text, making it transparent and then adding it to an image to make a watermark.ogrizzo wrote:Doesn't the shadow option render text in a very similar way?Zarastro wrote:Besides the issues with the "about" button which I also have experienced - Fedora 16 64bit here - I'd like to see an option to zText to add embossed texts such as those generated by this ImageMagick code which I run when I convert my pictures for web publication
