there is no gap to apply a transition effect? argh!

Post by wgregori »

I'm making great progress with my movie making skills! But.... I'm trying to add some transitions to a series of images and I keep getting "there is no gap to apply a transition effect". Trouble is I can't see how I can make a gap. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Wayne

Ah Wayne - does not the complete error message say "For ripple editing . there is no gap to apply a transition effect" - - and that tells you where the problem is, when ripple editing is enabled all images are locked to the tracks and in relation to the other tracks - when you apply a transition the clips need to move - to overlap each other by the duration of the transition. To apply transitions you need to disable Ripple editing - then you will be able to insert transitions. If that movement puts you out of sync with something in another track then you need to extend the duration of each image by the duration of the transitions at each end of it - that will restore your original project length. You can enable ripple editing again after you have finished inserting transitions and that will lock your images to their new relative positions.
