I'm running linux and info says I'm running 1.0.5 so re-downloaded 1.0.6 and reinstalled. Info says I'm still running 1.0.5.
Thanks.

Hi Sean
I think there are some stability problems with this plugin - I have experienced several freezes, typical of plugin problems, however a restart and it continues ok so difficult to provide detailed reasons. Ocasionally ASP fails on initial loading but restarting it then works. Also blocks appear momentarily but do not seem to affect the end resul but are a bit discerning.

This was my experience using the pro version and just trying quick changes to see the effects (maybe this is the cause - doing too much too quickly) - I very much like it but do feel there are some problems still to be resolved

There was still a package problem but I've fixed the Linux version to 1.0.6 as of five minutes ago, double-checked and downloaded from my site and reinstalled it here and it's correct. Finally. I am sorry for the roughness of this release; I was so planning on it to be smooth and then it wasn't and I had a photo shoot and so wasn't paying proper attention. Mea culpa.

I do hope this also clears up the freezing bits as the build would have been fairly old, though if the freezes are on Windows and not Linux then I'll be more concerned. Please let me know. Nuance does use some rather fiddly caching in order to run at an acceptable speed (the maths are outrageous and would be unacceptable if not cached somehow) so out there in the wild on the latest machines it might be more dicey than on my rather old MacBook.

Thanks!

Hi Sean

Thanks for this. I have been able to re-create my Blue Sky preset. (just a simple colour +30 Vibrance =20 on patch 13 but much more usable than the supplied Bluer Skies).

However you have a bug. If you switch on the History display and just make some random changes (to build up a history) then when you click anywhere in the history you get "Initial Settings" applied. Try one of your presets with History displayed and you should see it straight away.

Cheers

Hi Sean,

it appears that Nuance is not a free upgrade for Brenda (Bibble 5) owners. Is that correct?

Strange, what distro are you using? They work like a charm under Ubuntu 11.10.
Thanks.

It seems the presets don't work in some flavours of Linux. I'm wondering if they don't work in 64 bit builds, or if it's distro specific or what the deal is. I'm a little concerned; would like to get to the bottom of this.

Nuance registration instructions are included with Brenda's registration instructions on my site, so you don't have to pay to get the full version unlocked. That said, if you can spare anything to help fund additional development that would be good. I'm taking a risk working on these plug-ins instead of my photography this past month in the hope that there will be enough uptake and payment to make it worth my time.

I am sorry to say I am on windows and using the latest version 106 plus I have 64b os. I have not used it since my last post but the number of problems (freezes mainly) is of general concern because in ASP as B5 it is difficult to know which plugin causes problems. The problems I reported only occurred after loading Nuance colour grading pro so unless it is reacting to other plugins I am sure it is at fault.

It is not the flavor of Linux, but the locale settings.

I usually run my box with English messages but German numbers etc...
There the presets do not work.

When I switch it all the "C", no interpretation is applied and the presets work.

Guess AS needs to be made more robust with regards to the language environment.
This will probably need special handling to distinguish strings that need to be NLS enabled vs numeric arguments that should just use ANSI...

Shot in the dark: it may be due to localization settings -- language settings can change period signs into commas in numbers, etc.

Localization should NOT affect the parsing of presets. ARGH.

afx, could you create a Nuance preset with the German formats and upload it here so I can see if that's indeed the problem? (I'd do it here but wouldn't be guaranteed to see exactly what you're seeing.) Thanks.

grahamh, I will be happy to refund your purchase if you wish. I'm not sure how long it will take me to sort out the freezing issue and I don't want you to be upset by a plug-in that you've paid for but can't yet use. Let me know!

Check again, the information for Brenda activation refers to Nuance as well ...
None too obvious, I guess Sean forgot to edit the entry!

Oh yes...
But it does. Major suckage I think.

I've switched all "." to "," in the nuance parameter and lo and behold, it works.
Of course, if I then switch to a completely English locale it does not work...
YUCK.
Time to pester the guys in Austin and use the SurveyMonkey
