First print out is always incorrect
I have been using Paint Shop for many years now always upgrading as newer versions appear and have been sing Pro X4 since it's launch.
The problem I have is whenever I send the first 6x4 photo to the printer it just prints one quarter of the image (the top left portion). After the first image is printed all subsequent images are OK. I don't recall when this started as it only came to light a couple of weeks ago. At first I thought it might be something to do with my printer driver so I re-installed this. Then after further checks I realised it only happened when printing from Paint Shop. Thinking there might be a file corruption I re-installed the program along with the service pack update but the problem still exists.
Initially I thought it had something to do with the paper sizing and it was trying to print on an A4 sheet but when I put in an A4 sheet it showed it was printing a correct 6x4 print.
To overcome this I set up to show a print preview which shows the problem, then I cancel the print, click print again and all is OK.
Anyone else come across this.

Re: First print out is always incorrect
I have a similar problem. I always need to double check before printing. Same thing. Try to print a 6x4 and it actually prints as an A4 so you only get a small part of the print.
I have an Epson 1400. When I select paper size and click ok to return to the 'print' option the paper selected will still show an A4. I re open options/setup and setlect 6x4 again and click ok. The second time around the correct paper is selected and all is ok.
I only printed from PSP and always had the same proble. I'm now trying Qimage and have yet to have the same problem.
I don't know if this is a PSP issue or an Epson issue. But going through the selection proccedure twice before hiting print works for me. The fact that Qimage has no issues points to a PSP problem but I'm not positive about that. It may have more to do with how Qimages works.
Regards

My printer is the Canon MP640.
It is definitely a PSP issue as I use Phase One and Canon DPP which I also print from and have no problem with them.

Just an update on this issue.
I have been communicating with Corel via their support section and after several attempts at trying to resolve the issue they are now suggesting I purchase their protection plan so that the matter can be addressed.
What a cop out.
There is a problem in the software but they want me to pay them to find it, no way.

Re: First print out is always incorrect
I have been looking for others with this same problem: my image sizes in the print window do not reflect my applied change to the printer paper size until I open and apply the printer properties settings a second time.
This is a bug!
ALSO & maybe related: image RESIZE within PSP X4 sometimes? always? does NOT update the image dimensions with "lock aspect ratio" set. When I increase one dimension, the other dimension does not update until I unset, then reset "lock aspect ratio". This is new bad behavior!

Re: First print out is always incorrect
I have a similar issues to the rest of you with my HP Printer.
I always find it safest to click on Portrait and then Landscape after setting the Printer Preferences the first time.
This did not happen with X3, X2 and earlier.

Re: First print out is always incorrect
I've had this issue before x4 with x3. With me I always reset the paper size in the printer dialogue. No mater what I'm printing I set the paper size. Then go back and change it then set it again. I've no idea where the 'bug' is but provided I remember to reset paper size all is ok. (I've been trying Qimage for a while now and haven't encountered the problem. Yet!)

Re: First print out is always incorrect
I had another reply from Corel about this but they seem to be adamant there is no issues with their software.
Funny how others are having similar problems.

Re: First print out is always incorrect
Yes, Corel's (positive fix) responses are very limited! I do appreciate the service pack, but it does not feel like enough! Quite possibly this paper size/print bug crept in before X4: I skipped a couple of version when I upgraded.
And another possibly related problem:
Sometimes? always? a "Canvas Size" increase on one dimension, with "lock aspect ratio" ON fails to increase the other dimension, but instead uses the last remembered setting, which is most obvious when it actually crops the image on that dimension.
Then I have to reset/unlock/relock the aspect ratio to see this update correctly.
I am exasperated by other PSP X4 behavior:
* Palette docking/undocking is irritating: I should be able to lock these well enough to avoid accidental undocking.
* Working with several open files is just ugly now. Switching between windows & tabs inadvertently is horrible, especially since returning to windows results in odd window sizes and new zoom factors, so no quick return to the previous set up.
* I can not get a combination of Preferences to produce the same window resizing behavior I had with previous versions (but maybe that is just me). I don't like being pushed up to high zoom to keep the window the same size after I resize/reduce my image size.
* I seem to be seeing odd behavior with several images/windows open: I switch between two windows with a mouse click & the window highlights to confirm the switch, BUT the history is not updated: it is the history from the previous window/image. Can't replicate this but I have seen it several times now: I have to click back & forth between the two windows again, to get see the right history.

Re: First print out is always incorrect
Bugs like these aren’t uncommon, and the company having you pay for something that is their fault isn't surprising. There's really nothing you can do, though, short of not using the software anymore.

Your best bet is to remain patient and wait for any eventual Service Pack. I am sure Corel developers are working on it. The will iron out most of the most importants bugs eventually.

I use Irfanview for any and all printing activities.
The set up page gives you so many options in printing the image and the program is small and free.
