I can't tell you how important this plugin is to me and I am completely lost now using ASP on certain images. Gradfilter, somehow managed to rescue and improve lighting conditions quickly and easily. I have the pro license for windows Bibble version so if you manage to recompile for win then I for one am more than happy to test it.

I appreciate you have other pressing needs but my guess is that you will make a lot of people happy releasing this.

Thanks Roger for keeping us updated. At least there is hope then, great news.

Although I have bought ASP I am still using Bibble 5 (and 4 too)
GradFilter is a major reason why I don't migrate from 5 to ASP.

... waiting impatiently

What are the differences between using Vigne as a grad filter and the one used in B4 & B5 (I never had the Bibble graduated filter). I have used the Graduated Filter in LR3 and it does seem to produce a more natural look...

i like to use it on tiffs, too, but it doesn't seem to work as well. if it's going to cost maybe this could be addressed.

Vigne runs too late in the pipeline, so it just shifts the histogram: it's fine if the highlights are not blown out and you just want to tone them down. A proper (digital) grad filter runs very early and is more equivalent to shifting Exposure, which is usually what you want.

Thank you - makes sense. Is there any way of moving Vigne up the pipeline or would that not be good for "vignetting effect".

You can do it by hand and although it takes a bit more time, it is still not that slow.

Add an adjustment layer, draw a polygon where the sky is. Adjust the feather to your liking, move and adjust the polygon if you need to. Then dial in exposure compensation.

You can copy adjustment layers, but I dont think you can save a layer as a preset.

Great news to know the project isn't dead. I'm running ASP on Linux, if you need some beta testers just let me know

+1

Having a workflow tool without an ND-grad filter is USELESS. I use these filters over and over again. Darken a sky, darken the lower part of a shot when flash was used. The ND-grad filter built by Roger Barnes is an excellent one. The color is not even that important to me, but the fact you can have three in a single image means the world for me.

Upgrading to ASP is NO option without. Glad I'm not getting a new camera any time soon, because I would have to leave the Bibble/Corel workflow engine altogether in that case: Bibble will not support new cameras, AFP will not support ND-grad filters. Come on guys, this is a BASIC feature for a workflow engine. You cannot be serious to not have it in there (or at least some status update on when it is coming perhaps?)

Agreen LR 4.1 has grad filter as a STANDARD part of the release. Its not a special plugin. It comes with the software because graduated filters are standard components for photographic work. We shouldn't all be dependent on one very over-worked australian developer for this feature. Corel should include it.

Corel included good plugins already, like Blacky, Color Equilizer and Nostalgia. Maybe they are on the good way to include well developed plugins in ASP, could be really great if they would do so with Gradfilter as well.

I will buy the Gradfilter anyway, so it doesn't bother me much what Corel will do with it. ;-)

Color Equalizer and Nostalgia are still plugins by the respective plugin developers, they just were selected to be included in the default install. i guess this happens by popular demand or whatever.
Blacky is now a real core-feature built into the Blacks Slider of the Tone section.
other core-features, although labeled as plugins, are the Black & White plugin and the Invert/Mirror plugin. they function as use-cases for the plugin-API, too.
Bibble since 2004. Aftershot until 2020. From then on darktable.

The wait is too long, this feature is essential it should not even be a plugin but a part of ASP!

I plan to use another séieusement software for this function and essential!
