need capture device for windows 7 - 64bit

Post by awbarnett »

I need a video capture device for windows 7 - 64bit.

I can't get the driver to instal on Win7 for my Plextor ConvertX PX-TV402U that I have used on XP with Video Studio X2 for several years.

Can some one recommend a USB external video capture device for use with windows 7 Home Professional - 64bit.
I can't spend a lot but would like something with a good track record.

I want to:
1) Capture coaxial TV - Analog
2) Composite video and audio
3) S-Video

I am using Plextor's software, "PlexToolsXL" for capturing video.
I can't use Video Studio X2 for capturing because Video Studio X2 doesn't offer the proper Codex for my Plextor.

Thanks, Anthony

I personally use this device :- http://www.honestech.com/main/vhs-to-dvd-50-deluxe.asp

I have been very happy with the results I have achieved but two points to note 1) is that the device itself does not capture TV but I use it connected to the composite output of my DVD player/TV recorder and get excellent results and 2) - it will not capture direct to VideoStudio but captures excellent mpeg videos using the supplied programme - those mpegs then import to VideoStudio without problem for editing

Thanks for your prompt and very helpful reply. I have an old VCR recorder with a TV tuner in it. I could use it in the same mannor along with the honestech device that you use.
Thanks, Anthony
