Does Ulead Video Studio 5.0 edit mpeg2 , encode and produce a finished DVD
video, or would Ulead Movie Factory still be wanted as well

If memory is working properly, I don't think VS5 included DVD Authoring (if it did, it was very, very basic).
I think the current VideoStudio 9 is light-years ahead of VS5 (imho), and it includes a fairly good entry-level dvd authoring program (similar to MovieFactory).
p.s. -- I just noticed on Ulead's site that for a limited time, they are offering a FREE copy of DVD MovieFactory 3.0 Disc Creator with the purchase of VideoStudio 9 Full Version. Even though it's MovieFactory 3.0DC, it's a very good authoring application
