VS PRO X3 crashes while rendering

Post by fvroijen »

VideoStudio PRO X3 crashes very often when rendering a VSP-file (with m2ts videofragments) that contains also transions and text.
It happens when I want to create a HD-file (PAL, Blu-ray /MPEG or H.264/ 1920*1080). Disabling SmartRender did not help. Also setting off hyperthreading did not solve the problem.
The problems do not occur when the VSP-file only contains m2ts fragments.
The recommendations given by Corel Helpdesk (download & install VS updates, C++ and DirectX updates) were not very helpful because I had already implemented the most recent updates
My current version of VS PRO X3 is 1.6.2.69.

Questions:
- What could be the solution of this problem?
- Does these kind of problems also occur with VS PRO X4 Ultimate?
- Does anyone know when VS PRO X5 will be available?

There are a lot of reasons why this happens one of the most common thing why the program crashes is due to conflicting programs, outdated codecs and issue with the video file that you are working, so you may want to post the properties of the video that you are working on. Also does this happens on the projects that you have?

For the codec part - Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install.
RealPlayer: http://www.real.com/
DivX: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/codec-pack
XviD: http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/xvidcore-1.3.2.zip
Windows Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... dia-player or just download the Windows Encoder at http://www.microsoft.com/expression/pro ... rview.aspx
QuickTime: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

As for the VS X4, I would suggest that you download the trial and find out for yourself. VS X5, no information on that yet.

Hi
and welcome to the forums.

You indicate that rendering m2ts files is ok, that the other content seems to be causing the problem.

Can you tell us what other content you are using?

There have been some issues with QuickTime versions, the program would crash, random crashes.
Reverting to an earlier version helps for some users.
Can you re-install Quick Time to version 7.5.5 to see if it improves things. If you use I-Tunes then this may affect its performance?

Direct X
Manually Installing Direct X does change things that the auto update does not. As far as I know does not cure crashes but related to the working of VS , missing buttons/links etc.

Download file
Run file to extract content, (create a folder on your desktop)
Run DXSETUP.exe to install.

Thanks very much for your answer.
I have installed the following codecs: K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 8.1.5, K-Lite Codec Pack 5.6.0 (64-bit) and CoreCodec CoreAVC Professional Edition
I could succesfully create HD PAL files based on two different VSP projects. It seems that the problems are solved now.
However I don't know which of the 3 codecs made it work.

First of all I started with hyperthreading disabled and hardware encoder and decoder acceleration turned off.
Later on I enabled hyperthreading and all other options (hardware acceleration, smart render) on. Also in that case I could succesfully finish the creation of the video file.

Next thing I have to do is to create the Blu-ray disc itself. First of all I want to create a disc image (I don't want to waste BD-R discs!). But MovieFactory 7 SE has greyed out the option for creating an ISO-file.
What could be the reason?

But it still allows the preparation of a Blu-Stream folder. This is much the same as a DVD folder where a Video-TS folder is built, containing all the files and structure of a final DVD. In the case of the Blu-Ray folder, a BDMV folder is created, containing all the necessary files and structure of a final Blu-Ray disc. You can then simply transfer it to an actual disc. I have used the freeware ImgBurn program for that. It also has good Help files.
