in ASPro thumbnails altered for no apparent reason

Post by eDDe »

I'm tearing my out. Been using B5 for a while. Moved on to ASPro. As soon as I click on a RAW thumbnail ASP changes the settings. As far as I can determine the only feature on is Sharpen at 33. Autolevel is off (but set to 0.010 as advised by AFX in Quickistart). Neither Ctrl + R nor Ctrl + Shift + R will return the image to its original appearance on loading. All the thumbnails I have not clicked on remain unchanged. Something is going on and I can't work out what. Colour management is set to ICC profiled. Linear just knocks down the light. I'm looking at images taken in an indoor swimming pool. The blues of the water are given a green hue but as I have said all settings except Sharpening remain at zero.

If any one has any ideas to help me I would be grateful.

Thanks

Ed

Have you set up a default raw settings that kicks in when selecting the photo for the first time?

With a brand new RAW file, do you click on the thumb the very first thing after starting ASP? And that changes image settings?

Are you sure that clicking Keyboard Shortcut Ctrl+R isn't what's changing image settings?

Try it with a new RAW file that ASP hasn't already created an image.RAW.xmp for...

Exactly which settings are being changed?

Also have you ever used Edit->Settings->Save as Raw Default? If so check this post-> http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 73#p240165

isn't it just the embedded jpg / raw preview being replaced by an ASP preview ? Do you have preview generation turned off in the preferences?

Many thanks for your responses which have all been helpful in increasing my understanding, however the actual problem was that a few weeks ago I switched off default Preview generation and hadn't appreciated that although the thumbnails were showing the previews hadn't been built by ASP. Same problem with my B5 however because it is less aggressive than APS in its processing of the original ~RAW the change was less apparent. So at least I understand what's going on. Fact remains that in ASP the previews are too saturated for my liking even with all sliders at zero or unadjusted - so I'll have to look at that. Histograms are much the same in B5 & ASP. Anyway thanks all of you.
