ASP on 2 operating systems?
ASP on 2 operating systems?
I bought ASP a few weeks ago. But yesterday my pc crashed.
Now I have to buy new computer. Until now I used linux - but Im considering buying a Windows machine instead.
Can I still use my serial number on another computer/operation system or do I have to buy a new one? On how many (of my own) computers can I use my serial number?
Thanks
Peter

Re: ASP on 2 operating systems?
I assume you are a Home User.
As I understand it the Home User license says that you can use ASP on up to 3 computers in your home. I do not remember any restriction as to how many operating systems, but I would assume 3 computers means 3 computers. I would also assume that if one of those computers dies you can install it again on another computer, but that is an assumption.
You can always download the trial to your windows machine, install it and read the license when it is presented although it is very long and somewhat hard to understand. Here is a section from my copy:
You may install and USE, at the same time, this Student and Teacher, Home and Student or Home Edition Software on up to three (3) computers at Your Address.
Remember, this is for Home Users and if you are a business I am sure other rules apply. If you like I will post the entire license from my version of ASP.

Re: ASP on 2 operating systems?
I own three computers one mac, one Ubuntu and one Win7 64bit, I had it made very clear to me by a Corel SMA I could install ASP on each machine! Actually I was encouraged to install on all three and spread the word.

Re: ASP on 2 operating systems?
Here's an excerpt from Corel's EULA "MAY DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL ANY OF THESE SOFTWARE PRODUCTS ON UP TO THREE (3) SYSTEMS IN A SINGLE ADDRESS, HOWEVER IT CAN ONLY BE USED BY YOU ON ONE (1) SYSTEM AT A TIME." to at least let you know that you can install the program on 3 system that you own but can only be used one at a time.
The problem now if the installer, since Windows, Mac and Linux have different file system.

Re: ASP on 2 operating systems?
I bought and registered the downloaded the Windows version for a laptop. However I may be migrating to a MAC desktop. If I download the MAC trial version and enter my key will it work? I assume that had I bought the CD, all three versions would be on it.

Re: ASP on 2 operating systems?
I would try except that I haven't yet bought the machine that I've been eyeing. It's within the system requirements -- barely. (G5 dual core 2.3 GHz with 2 gigs ram.) Is his too old? Eventually I would like to take the ram up to 8 gigs and add a large 2nd HD soley for image file storage.afx wrote:Of course,Charles+OK wrote: If I download the MAC trial version and enter my key will it work?

Re: ASP on 2 operating systems?
Followup question. The Corel system requirements say all Intel processors. The G5 has the IBM PowerPC chip. Is the architecture of this chip so much different that it won't run ASP despite meeting the other requirements?

Absolutely. The instruction set of the Chips is totally different.Charles+OK wrote: The Corel system requirements say all Intel processors. The G5 has the IBM PowerPC chip. Is the architecture of this chip so much different that it won't run ASP despite meeting the other requirements?

To transfer a license, you deactivate the serial number on the old computer, and then on the new computer you re-activate the product.
You deactivate a serial number using the deactivation tool or on the Help menu, click Deactivate Serial Numbers.

What product are you talking about? Not AfterShot Pro for sure.jack kallis wrote:To transfer a license, you deactivate the serial number on the old computer, and then on the new computer you re-activate the product.

Re: ASP on 2 operating systems?
I also do not see any such functionality in ASP. Where are you looking?jack kallis wrote:To transfer a license, you deactivate the serial number on the old computer, and then on the new computer you re-activate the product.
