Bizzare DVD-RW Problems

I spent 6 hours last night trying to figure out what the problem is. I backed up all my files to a DVD-RW about 4 months ago...and have used it a few times to retrieve files without issues. Last night, when I put the DVD in the drive and go to explorer...it shows the name of the disk but when I double click it, I get a message that the disc isn't formatted. If I cancel that and try to eject the dvd, it gives me another message that the device failed to initialize. The only way to get the disk out is to restart. Has anyone experienced this type of problem? (Btw, the drive is a pioneer A07 and the disk came with the drive)

There is a free download from Microsoft, Autofix, that will act as a utility and correct some autoplay glitches that develop from time to time. Try this. Next time provide more info on your system and software. It helps folks help you.
