Really could use some Help!!!
Hello.
First I'd like to say i enjoy Corel Video Studio alot. But i have not enjoyed my experience lately due to these problems
-Unable to add background music
-When music is added from my computer original audio is cancelled for some strange reason, all i hear is the music and not my voice in the vid?
-When i click to play my project with or without music in the music time line, i can see my video is choppy and slow and still muted, even when i checked all settings in my project.
- I downloaded the VSProX4_SP1 & VSProX4_SP2 updates, i follow the instructions..but then it prompts me that my "System is not "Modified" to Install and that the patch has been Terminated"
All these problems are very frustrating, as i have used these same program functions at my brothers house and X4 ULTIMATE
(The Program i purchased and using now)
Worked fine before..i added music files from the computers torrent folder and added them to his project and it worked fine.
So is there something i'm NOT doing in terms of my Background music situation. I know i am doing it right, because i have made countless vids with music from my computer, and i have my original audio with me talking and instrumentals playing quietly in the background. But since i bought VideoStudioPro X4 ULTIMATE. I am unable to do this even thought i have made it work with no problems before???
Looking forward to all feedback

Re: Really could use some Help!!!
I can't take the time to show you how to add music and then lower its volume when the timeline is a video clip. There are tutorials on doing this. You can also clip the music when the timeline has a video clip, so the video clip's sound is the one you hear. If you have both music and a video clip at the same time, the loudest one is the one you hear. To preview without stutter, use Proxy files for slow pc's; lots of posts here on this. I am sorry to be so blunt, but you need to watch tutorials and read earlier posts on this forum for help. Your problems are solvable in VS... Al

Re: Really could use some Help!!!
Thx for the Reply AL....But i don't think you understand the Nature of my problem. If you read closely what i was trying to say, i think you would get a better understanding. The Problem i have is with the utilization of the custom soundtrack. All i want to do is put a instrumental that i downloaded, into my project timeline and have it play as background music blending with my original audio of my talking. Among the other problems is spoke of this is the biggest.
Now i have done this before by simply dragging the audio file i want to use into the X4Pro Library and then from there putting it into my music time line, turning it down and setting it to where i want it to start..and it blended with my original vid's audio no prob. Bu since i bought this product again yesterday, it will no longer do that..the music has completely silenced my vid's audio altogether,
I would juss like to know if someone has fireguard out how to blend the two and keep that from happening again.

Re: Really could use some Help!!!
I'm afraid I do not have a solution to the problem - but if it did happen to me the first 'workaround' I would try would be to right click over the video in the timeline and choose 'Split Audio' (don't worry this can be undone) this will copy the audio from your video into one of the audio tracks and mute the sound in your video - now put your additional audio into another audio track so that you are using two audio tracks and not the one in the video - may work - we wont know until you try it.

Re: Really could use some Help!!!
Hi
First the update patches, I think the ultimate version includes the SP1 update.
SP2 should install, if you try to install again may give the warning “System is not "Modified"
It is most likely that the patches are installed, checking the Version number via the Help disc top right – then the cogwheels--“About VS” may help, Unfortunately I cannot compare as I do not have the Ultimate, other users may help.
Audio Problem
I do not think this problem has been reported before, certainly I can add Video to the top track, Audio to the sound tracks without problems, playback in “project playback mode” and all audio can be heard.
The only difference will be the type of files we are using.
There have been audio playback issues, usually a codec problem, installing the software that comes with the camera usually helps, or non standard video files that Video Studio does not read correctly.

Hi
Thanks Ken
I thought the original version of VS had a different version number to that of the ultimate , but I also see it as 14.2.0.23.

Re: Really could use some Help!!!
Ken, Brian and Lata pretty much covered the background music and the SP1/SP2, here are somethings that you may want to check on the
Choppy video or playback
Since you did not include some information regarding your system and video format that you are working with, I can only assume that you're using HD Video and your computer is having a hard time processing the videos. You may want to enable Smart proxy and create proxy files on your computer. You can do that by going to SETTINGS > PREFERENCES > PERFORMANCE tab > Enable SMART PROXY then click OK.

Re: Really could use some Help!!!
Thx you for all the reply's
So i went ahead and returned the ULTIMATE Version and exchanged it for the Video Studio Pro X4. And Sadly the same issue is occurring, I still am unable to add background music to my project. When i try it, then go to play my project back to me the vid is slow and choppy with no audio altogether.
So i said screw it and made a vid without any music (Which i most defiantly should not have to settle for ) just to see if any problem would persist even without music in the vid. And sure enough the the same result.
I can put music in the music time line but it over rides the video's original audio no matter what i try (Split Audio makes the whole Program Crash, Sound mixer still has no effect) to make matters worse when i have music ready, and at a level volume, i go to playback the project, the vid is slow, and jumpy and STILL No Audio and instead of just choppy play back the vid seems to be smoothly jumpin every couple of seconds threw the whole vid. So i thought i would create and video file and and see what happens. I made a MPEG-4 File and then i made a file with the option of "Keep the same as project settings" and i let it Render untill 100% complete..then i went to were video folders are on my PC and played the vid in Quicktime and Windows media player 11, and guess what.. it is still playing back choppy and Silenced??? with all my editing and visuals.I even went as far as uploading it to YOUTUBE to see if it was juss my PC that was the problem..but no.. it played the same way after YOUTUBE Processed it and uploaded it there site. So I'm lead to believe that the Video file MAY have something wrong with it. but then i play the raw file out of Corel and juss in Quicktime, and it plays fine with no problems. And I have tried a Proxy file and it still did not work. Or it is something in Video studio that needs Tweeking to get music playing in the background and for me to make a smooth project and have it work properly?
I am Completely Speechless. I have used this same product before i went out and bought my own Video Studio, and this never happened. I could of just bought a different company's Editing program but i Love Corel Pro X4's layout and i'm comfortable with it, im like a Surgeon when im using it..making projects with ease. But i must, say i am losing hope and enjoyment with this brand. I would like to be able to do what i want. and For the Pro X4 to Boast "CUSTOM SOUNDTRACK" as a Perk in the EDITION with the option of Royalty Free music, OR Add you own Tunes. I feel some what Cheated.
Now i know My Pc can run the program because i have made projects with my music in the background and effects , uploaded it to share with no hiccups before. here is some more info on my PC

I am hoping i can get this problem fixed on here..Or i will have to call Corel and ask for help. I'm still behind schedule with my projects because of this...

Re: Really could use some Help!!!
Ok so now we know what your system specs are, there's one more thing that we need to look at. Right-click on a video clip, (in the timeline or library), select Properties and post them here. There are some video file formats that can be a real problem for some PCs to edit, like AVCHD. Generally it takes a quad-core to edit AVCHD smoothly.

Re: Really could use some Help!!!
Hi
The video although AVI is rather non-standard, by that I mean DVD standard. There are many types of AVI and this one is using Arcsoft Video Decoder.
Although I have some Arcsoft programs I do not think I have this codec installed on my system.
So where did you get the video from? I guess its not directly from a camera but has been re-coded using a video conversion program?
Now that we know what we are dealing with, what are you intending to make, a video for the internet, or a DVD (Standard or HD)
Do you have the files prior to this type being created?

On The Contrary .. The Video files come directly off my INSIGNIA 720p HD Camcorder..The One In this Link..
http://www.amazon.com/Insignia-High-Def ... 98-0499647
Now all i do is take video with this Camcorder, i don't touch the settings on it.then when i'm done i Upload the vids via USB to my Pc. I open up the cam's files and extract the vids i want directly to my Pc's Default Video Folder. When the Transfer is done, i then open Video Studio Pro X4 and open them in the library. thats it. I have done this all the time and it used to work just fine. adding music and effects and rendering it for sharing.
All of a sudden when i open the files in VSP i can't add music to my file and rendering vids that i make turn out choppy and slow. when i mean jumpy, it's like im watching my vid, the effects are working just fine moving at real time, but my vid is jumping from frame to frame every second. and there is no more sound... So not only can i not edit my vid the way i want, even when i strip all but a few effects and add no background music behind me talking in the vid, just to keep it as simple as i can. the Rendering process has not worked either now. I tryed creating a video file as an MPEG-4 ..no Luck... i tried several other formats to render it in and all have the same outcome.
Now as you asked Lata. I am making vids for Youtube and i used to upload them music and all the bells wit no problem before. they would upload on youtube fine and in HD. now they upload in this ridicules state. I do not use my PC's webcam to do the vids in VSP, i always use a camcoder. so i do have the files Prior to edit.
My next idea is to use my old Standard Def cam and see if VSP will let me edit it the way i want to..and render it with no probs. But i never had to do this so it just begs the question..What it the Problem .. My PC ?? Or Video Studio Pro X4...Also, would you recommend Uninstalling VSP and then Re-installing the program. I have my Serial Number so was going to try that as well.

Re: Really could use some Help!!!
Hi
Apologies I did not expect to see Arcsoft other than being created by a program.
Done a bit of digging and found some info
Which seems to offer the ffdShow video codec
and a link from Microsoft regarding compatibility with Windows 7, yes i realise you use vista
-------------------------
If you add the video only then I assume you have no problems.
If you then use the sample audio from the library, do you have problems.?
If no then what type of audio files are you using that causes the problem?
----------------------
The camera came with some software I assume video editing, are you able to use this successfully.
I assume you have installed the software that came with the camera?
---------------------
Using the frame size 1280 x 720 should lend itself nicely to being converted to the Web Upload option You tube HD to create a Mpeg4.
