A Windows Update affects performance of Video Studio
On 1/31/12 an automatic Windows Update severly affected the performance of my Video Studio Pro X4. I did a system restore to a date prior to that Windows Update and all worked well again. On 2/4/12 another automatic Windows Update installed and created the same problem. I did another system restore and changed the settings of my Windows Updater to notify me, instead of automatically installing updates. How can I figure out which Windows Update is affecting the performance of my software?

Hi
I suppose you choose the Custom install option rather than the Express install.
This should allow you to choose individual updates.
Install one at a time till you identify the problem.
By the way what is actually happening to Video Studio after the Windows Update.
-----------------------------------------
Have you installed all patches associated with your version of VS X4

Also have you install the VS X4 SP1? Since that update contains a lot of variety of new performance updates, feature enhancements and bug fixes.
