Hi all,
I've recently upgraded from WinDVD Pro 2010 to WinDVD Pro 2011 but I have a problem in that (to my untrained eye) it seems to be using 16:9 aspect ratio rather than 16:10. The result of this is that, when I'm watching blu-rays or DVDs with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio there are massive horizontal black bars along the top and bottom as if it was 2.76:1, whereas if I watch the same movies on the older WinDVD Pro 2010 I just get the standard normal size horizontal black bars. Also, when watching movies that use 1.85:1 or 1.78:1(such as Avatar)then I get the black bars that normally I would only expect to see if watching a 2.35:1 movie whereas on WinDVD 2010 these movies filled the entire screen with no black bars.
There doesn't seem to be any way for me to change this through the aspect ratio settings tab in WinDVD 2011. I've had to resort to downgrading back to the 2010 version as I don't get this problem with that one. I thought initially it didn't like my monitor resolution but I dropped it down from my normal 1920x1200 to 1920x1080 and got the same thing.

Re: WinDVD Pro 11 - Aspect Ratio
I went to the effort of joining this forum just to ask this one simple question.. DOES ANYONE WORKING AT COREL ACTUALLY READ OR REPLY TO THESE POST???
I have the exact same problem when play a bluray title with the aspect ratio of 2.35 it seems windvd pro 11 manages to stretch the image to 16.9.. not really ideal and it would seem that many other people have the exact same problem due to the fact it have been viewed many times...so do we have a reply or answer no of course not.. youve got my money so why bother ... RANT OVER .... IM OFF TO PDVD
