I thought that would make a good preset, but I cannot figure out how to make a preset that contains a layer. I see I can include layers in a selective copy but not when creating presets. Is that a know limitation?claudermilk wrote:What a good idea. Wonder if that would do anything with the hyper-aggressive Autolevels/Autocontrast problem? Re: Layers in presets?
I cannot neither.
for instance, my copyrights text contains quite often 2 lines. Since zText supports a single line text only, I created 1 preset per line that must be applied to separate layers. Unfortunately, I must manually create the layers prior to applying the presets. This procedure must be repeated to each image that I must copyright. It's not fun & it slows down my work-flow. I hope this will be improved in the future.
Thanks for bringing that up!

I often used polygons on layer with large feather for ND filter. (I know about other solutions, but this gives mi greater accuracy and ability to tweak everything including denoise).
I too was unhappy when realized presets cannot create layers with objects.

Re: Layers in presets?
@Tundraquad - Are you aware that you can use selective copy (CTRL+SHIFT+C) to copy multiple layers which you can then paste into multiple images? So you can set up 1 image and paste identical layers into as many as you want in 1 go.

Re: Layers in presets?
Hi RickHeath,
Yes, you're right! It actually saves me a lot of time doing such when I use the text in the exact same location.
The problem comes in when I use the text on imgs from cameras having a different resolution (I use D200/300/700s which have a different sensor), or more often when I position the copyrgt text at a different location. The main waste of time is when moving the text around.
... Actually, you're giving me an idea! I should create several generic images (somewhere in a specific catalog) with many scenarios, & use them as templates! ... He, why not! ... Thanks RickHeath!!

Use Typewriter instead. It supports multiline text.tundraquad wrote:for instance, my copyrights text contains quite often 2 lines. Since zText supports a single line text only, I created 1 preset per line that must be applied to separate layers.

Hi afx,
Yes, I agree. I was used to Ghostwriter 1st, then TypeWriter. But in December I was concerned about how long Typewriter would be supported for. So, I transited to zText thinking that it will be maintained in the longer future.

Well, Sadman did produce an AS version, so I think that is not an issue anymore (I am using it for my watermarks).tundraquad wrote:Yes, I agree. I was used to Ghostwriter 1st, then TypeWriter. Here's how I tamed the hyper-aggressive Autolevels:claudermilk wrote: What a good idea. Wonder if that would do anything with the hyper-aggressive Autolevels/Autocontrast problem? Time to play...

Re: Layers in presets?
I have done the same thing in my Default files, as 0.002 and below has no effect on the image.B4b5 wrote:Here's how I tamed the hyper-aggressive Autolevels:

bopt:shadowval="0.002"

The trouble is that I find I then end up changing the 2 to a 3 to a 4 etc, and then .002 to .02 to .2 until AutoLevel kicks in.
Not very productive 'trial and error'

I don't use Autolevels very much, but as a default I keep it off (false) and use the numbers given above only because they seem to be at the threshold
of a nice little response for the images from my camera.
I regard Autolevels like cholesterol medicine - a little goes a long way - a whole lot more isn't necessarily a whole lot better.

Or use zText with the escape breakline sequence : '\n'tundraquad wrote:Hi afx,

my signature preset is using ztext with the following :
'@ E de Maistre\n%HEADLINE%\n%DATE%'
