I'm doing screen capture, and MS Video 1 consumes 10 times as much disk space as H264.
I have tried a number of different codecs, and the result is the same.
I have tried looking at the resulting VideoStudio dump file using MSVS 2008, but there does not seem to be any content.
Does anybody have any ideas how I can debug this problem?
Pro X4 crashes when using codecs other than MS Video 1

I didn't think Video Studio could do video screen captures, if I am understanding correctly what you are doing. Perhaps if you explained your steps a little more, someone might be able to help.

Re: Pro X4 crashes when using codecs other than MS Video 1
Thanks, Ken.
I'm doing the screen capture with an application called Debut Pro. Here is their web site.
http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html
I had created a whole project using screen videos captured with Debut Pro with the following settings.
AVI format
H264 codec
30 frames per second
MP3 audio 44.1 KHz, 128 kbps
Pro X4 rendered the project into FLV just nicely. And I was able to load and edit the project a few times. Now, when I try to load it, Pro X4 crashes as soon as it loads the video clips.
If I try to load any video into the Pro X4 time line that was not created using Microsoft Video 1 codec, Pro X4 crashes immediately.
I can create AVI clips in Debut Pro using Microsoft Video 1 codec, and they load into Pro X4 just fine.
Any ideas on how I can debug this?

Re: Pro X4 crashes when using codecs other than MS Video 1
Never mind.
I had made a change to the nVidia settings based on some (bad) advice I got.
I went back to the installed defaults (THANK GOD for the "Restore Default" button).
Problem gone.
Pro X4 working with other codecs happily, now.
